Every day that goes by, I get closer and closer to taking the plunge...I just put down a deposit (fully refundable) to hold a coach until the end of next week. Nada says 47k - 57k. The seller wants 45k, and won't budge AT ALL. Needs new tires, and new house batteries. I did a thorough inspection today, and found no major issues. I still plan to have an independent inspection, although I doubt anything they find will get the seller to budge. The unit is a 2008 Fleetwood Fiesta LX 34N. Is this a fair price? I can't fathom that the price is non-negotiable, but then again she's asking below Nada. Aside from the tires/batteries, it's in really good shape...basically immaculate. Cruch time... :/

Under low book and you find it unfathomable that they won't drop the price. Maybe they do not care if you buy it or not. Change your offer to $43 or $44 and you pay the consignment commission and I am sure you will own the coach with in moments.Randy

I just did a quick search for the unit you're considering.They were all listed well over 45K.Did you research the price on other similar units?Even buying new tires and house batteries you may be ahead of the game.Obviously, you like the Fiesta you're looking at, or you would have walked by now.Do some homework on the price.And, let us know if you make the purchase. It sounds like you will. :)

It doesn't seem unfair, but that doesn't mean you should buy it. How much do you want it? How much does she want to sell? Is there other interest in the unit? You could walk and see if she calls you back, or just keep looking for that matter.Frankly, the asking price that others want mean not very much to me. They may all be out of line.

in my experience NADA is not always accurate for used RV's. You need to look at current actual listings & sales of that model. Most of the 2008 LX models are going for $50-60K depending on mileage & condition & options. So, I don't blame her for not going any lower. Some buyers actually set their bottom line price up front. is it a fair price? that's for you to decide.

I rarely sell stuff, but when I did I used to put a fair price on things that was already my bottom dollar. I found that NOBODY wants to buy anything from a private party at the price they are asking regardless of what it is. People who buy used things apparently don't feel good about it unless they can talk the seller into a lower price. Didn't take me long to realize that asking a fair bottom dollar price from the beginning was the wrong way to go. So now I ask a higher price and let people talk me down to what I would have sold it for anyway and they buy and everybody is happy, even though they didn't really save a dime. Why do you think every time you go into a store almost everything is on sale? And yet people still fall for that.

Isn't this the truth! I have had people try to negotiate me down on a $15 set of car ramps I posted on CL! I mean really? I said no, they are $15. Khols in particular uses this business model and I HATE it and hate shopping there. They will price something way above what it should be and then have a fantastic sale, in the end you pay what you should have but my wife can say "I saved 60%!!"

Sometimes dealers try the fixed price thing. Saturn did for a while, some liked it some didn't. I actually bought my trailer from a dealer that used fixed pricing. The put a price on it that was in the lower range of what you would find advertised, and that was the price. I enjoyed that experience.

It is, what it is with people and some never pay the asking price no matter. A few in the minority will pay the asking price without question if they want it.
Knowing all this, I always ask more than I'm willing to take.
As for fixed car pricing, doesn't CARMAX do that also and I'd be willing to give them a shot? I mean it's not all that hard to figure out and if it's a better deal than all the mumbo jumbo that usually goes with it.

That's one way, to get you to come running and there are others, but surprised you haven't bought something by now, as there's plenty of them out there for sale.
Unfortunately, it's not like shopping and comparing with Wal-Mart, so...

Either the seller needs the full amount to pay off the loan, or the consignee wants to keep their profit up.

Keep in mind that the value of any product is EXACTLY what one person is willing to collect and one person is willing to pay. If the 2 parties don't agree on the value a sale will not take place. If you don't think it's a fair price and you can find another in the same condition for less, don't buy it but don't blame the seller for asking a price equal to the value he sees in the product.

On second thought, maybe better to wait 'til you actually have the keys and drive it off their lot. Wouldn't want them to think there's suddenly a ton more interested buyers out here.

Just FYI, while they were waiting for me to decide, they listed it on their website. Probably in case I backed out. The asking price online is a lot higher than I'm getting it for. It appears as though they were just upfront with me about their bottom price. Makes me feel a little better. :)
