Cruise control for my 2004 Ford E450 Superduty engine

I am unable to engage the cruise control on the steering wheel. I have searched all thru the fuse notes in the owner manual to find where the electrical connection is located. I suspected it was under the dash y the drivers legs but I cannot find it. Please help by telling me what and where the cruise connection is located. Thanks. Johnnie Reeder
  • Hey. Exactly same problem I had. It is one of two things. Either the 'clock spring' that transmits signals from steering wheel to dash, or...it is the brake pressure switch. It was the latter answer for me. Brake pressure switch is on the bottom of the master cylinder (I have a 2007 E450 hauling a Coach House 272XL). Unscrew the defective one, screw the new one in and then reconnect wires. Fixed.

May be a recall, but I did not wait to find out. My cost was $53 to have cruise control.
  • There is a recall for this problem, potential fire hazard. No fuses for cruise control.
  • The fuse box by the drivers feet is closed with a black lid, you can identify it because on the right lower corner there is a semi cicle where the turn signal rellay goes and it is round.

Have you checked the switch on the brake pedal to see if it is making contact, the brake pedal some times hangs up and does not let the switch close the cirquit.

The cruise control only works above 35 miles per hour, under that does not work and will not engage.

  • I took a few min. and went over to google to try to get you a quick answer. Bottom line, there is no quick answer,go there and spend some time, you'll find a wealth of information.
  • You have a post open and there are several suggestions as to what the problem could be.
