Dat/Night Thread Cleats

This may be in the wrong category - sorry if it is.

We have several of our day/night thread cleats that are broken and need replaced. These are the things that the thread goes into and are affixed to the wall that holds the tension. I have looked online and the couple of places I have found want $2.00 each for them! That seems extreme to me.

Has anyone found these somewhere else for less or utilized something else that works as well.

Thank you in advance to those who read and answer.
  • Metal sewing bobbins are what you want. Walmart should have them if they have a fabric/sewing department. You can get 4-6 for around $2
  • I have found them by doing a goggle search on the internet. Try here:

  • On our previous motorhome, I used metal sewing bobbins to replace the plastic "spools" the line was attached to. Our Phaeton had clamp type anchors to attach the strings to, before I replaced them with roller shades. The anchors I've given away to people I've met on the road.
  • I bought a couple from my RV dealer several years ago. Have no idea what I paid but he was handy and had them in stock.
