DO I NEED A LADDER?

At least a short step ladder is good. They do come in handy if you need to reach up a few feet.

Being new at all this, I suggest you go camping a couple of times...get some experience and see how it goes.

Don't over think it and don't try to prepare and anticipate everything that will happen....it just can't be done. Keep it simple.

You are not going to be camping on the moon and you won't be far from most anything you might need IF and when something comes up.

Get the basics and get on down the road.

Our old camper, we always carried a short step ladder. It also doubles as a step for the tail gate of the truck. Our new camper has slides, so I started carrying a 6 foot step ladder so I can reach the top of the slides to brush off any leaves or twigs that might fall from any overhanging trees.

If you have space, it might be well to carry a small step ladder, especially if you already have a ladder attached to your camper so you can access the roof. A small ladder comes in handy for lots of things, but there again, you may carry it and never use it. Someone else may carry one and use it every day. It just depends on you and your needs.

I purchased a double folding ladder, the type that becomes like a 4/4, at camping world some 30 years ago. I've used it maybe twice, but both times I was glad I had it. Most of the time someone else in the campground offers some big ol ladder they keep in their huge rig. Now, at 66 I have no intention of getting on a ladder, but I keep it in the belly anyway.

A short step ladder is an essential. Helps to wash the RV, Clean the windows, and I use mine to help get up the installed ladder as it is several feet above the ground on a level spot, more when not. Take a look at Lowes or Home Depot. I use one of the small household ladders that have a hand grip.

I am planning to be fulltiming and feel it is better to have one just in case. I am also new to RVing and purchased this ladder, see below. I have used it a few times to access the tops of the slides and was very happy to have one of my own and need to bother someone else to get one. I also have a ladder at the rear of the coach in order to get on the roof.

I like this model as it can be an extension or an a-frame ladder. Pricey but works well and is compact.

We carry a 12' telescoping ladder that does everything we need. You only need to extend it as much as you need and when collapsed, it lays flat, is about 3" high and is less than 36" long. They are made out of aluminum and can be found for less than $100.

I purchases one of these double folding types also. I have used on several occasions as a lever to help raise my levelers. The one time I did use it as a ladder was when my nephews ball got hit over a barbwire fence behind our campsites. Other than that, in 9 years it's never been used as a ladder for the motorhome, but I still carry it just in case.

I have a 6' folding aluminum ladder use it to clean and lubricate windows, change out burned out porch light. To get up on the ladder that goes to the roof. It fits inside of a slide thru compartment , no problems
