Do you crawl under your lifted coach

Yes I have Big Foot levelers and are the best. So I do not worry about them. Now on my other coach I had the HWH and I did not trust them.

Do now a friend had his lifted and one of the hydraulic lines broke and it came crashing down.

Be it my truck, my trailer, my MH (if I had one), anything lifted......if I can not fit under it sitting 'normal' (no jacks/lifting devices etc) then I will NOT crawl under it UNLESS resting on jack stands, cribbing, supporting frame.


People that do otherwise have a label...........
AND end up injured, maimed, crushed, dead.

Just a ignorant thing to do.

As much as I think it is safe...too many headlines....I will get under on my crawler at normal tires on ground to LOOK at something...if I have to TOUCH something then I ask to go to neighbor's shop which has a pit to use after hours....with my luck (slim and none)..not taking the chance..

I have used jack stands with my old motorhome and had it fall off of them. It wasn't fun. Fortunately I wasn't under it. It is much harder than it may seem to properly support a large motorhome on jack stands. I'm thinking of getting high quality ramps as a better option.

I am from the old school and in times when I did not have wood planks, I always pushed removed wheel under the vehicle. Maybe not the best safety, but I had a chance for survival.
Years ago I had 5-tons HD jack stand.
My bus conversion is 15 tons total, so I figured out that the rear corner should not exceed 5 tons.
Lifted the coach with hydraulic jack and then open the valve to lower it on the stand.
The coach body kept going down, splitting the 5-tons stand with no visible resistance.
I figure out that the jacks and stands are rated similar to winches, who have "rolling capacity"
So 5-tons rated stand is design for vehicle weighing 5-tons TOTAL or 1.25t a corner with some safety margin.

Nope, would not trust the jacks to keep it off the ground. they are stabilizers not for lifting even though they will lift.

I never go under the rig without properly rated jackstands or solid wood blocks.

4o years working on 18 wheelers and heavy equip I use 6x6 blocks on firm ground. when hydraulics fail it is instant.

I believe Jack stands are rated by pairs. Not individual stands.
