door seals

While out last week an "old timer" camper said only way to protect and keep the seals around doors and windows fresh is to wipe with olive oil and let dry before closing door. Has anyone done this and does it work?
  • I would not use Olive oil, it will go rancid. If you have edpm seals you dont really need anything except mild soap and water but if you like the shiny look get the rubber UV protector wipes.
  • It was so much easier to get away with 'old timers' knowledge before the internet.
  • I use olive oil in toilet bowl over winter storage cause it doesn't evaporate and keeps toilet bowl seal flexible

Never heard of using it on door/window seals........it doesn't dry and would attach dirt etc.

I use 'baby powder' (talcum) in a sock to dust my slide out seals.
Never worried about door/window seals. Might dust them with my sock 'powder'
