Early 90's F53 Trans shift cable

Hi folks,
Those of us with this era Ford motorhomes know that this tranny shift cable is obsolete from Ford. Finding one/replacement has been impossible.
My question; there is a seller on E-Bay that claims to have a cable that will work with some modification, but does not spell out the modification. I'm wondering if anyone here has bought this cable and have made it work?
Here's hoping I can get my moho moving again. Thanks.
  • Have you tried taking your cable to a local machine shop to have them repair it?
  • take if off and go to your local boat supply house. They can make you one. Its just a push/pull cable. Look at this site and then see if you have one close by. They make them

  • I believe this is the correct cable. 88-97 should be the same cable for F53 E4OD
    transmissions.
Most shifter cable failures are from exhaust heat from after market headers and no heat shields.

As soon as I get the old one out, I'll have to see if it can be made up locally.

    Richard,
I was really wondering about the E-Bay seller's claim about theirs being a direct replacement with some modifications and if anyone here has used and made the modification.

    Thanks
