ALL the original designed and still used today 2 rail Schwinteks do is move the room in and out. They support NO LOAD of the room at all and are not designed to. The support of the room is done by the Floor rollers. The original Schwinteks got a bad rap because the OEM's designed inadequate frames and inadequate wall support when the hole for the room is cut out. After a few years of problems that had nothing to do with Schwintek, the OEM's beefed up their frames and in wall stud supports. Failure of a Schwintek now is usually related to bad wire routing(wires pinched and cut) or inadequate install by the OEM. Motors rarely fail. Doug

NO. Jayco used the 3 rail system years ago on certain model large slides and it did not work as designed and Jayco dropped the Schwintek 3 rail system. Doug

They have less to contend with and work very well.
Longevity of mechanism is very good too or at least with POWERGEAR.

The Power Gear electric slides on our present and previous MHs have been pretty much trouble free and never got out of alignment. Simple and effective - I like it like that.

Our 2012 Forest River Georgetown has hydraulic slides (3 of them). Quieter and smoother than the gear driven slides. Although I am dreading the day I have a hydraulic leak! but for now I am happy with them.

Hydraulic on 5er for 14 years then both cylinders went out. Had then rebuilt for around $225. each now all is well.

WOW my Georgetown with triple slides have hydraulic and maybe be upper scale 2007 and same pump for levelers are for slides.

Electric slides and levelers on my 08 Bounder and still working good except one brake on one levler is starting to go bad..

No need to worry about hydrolic lines leaking with electric..
