Flooring upgrade

Hey, how's it going? I'm proud to say that I'm a recently new RV'er. We purchased our 1986 Minnie yesterday. Just as many,,, I'm looking to get rid of the carpet that has been there for decades with some sort of hardwood, laminate or vinyl. I've been steered towards Allure's plank floating flooring. Does anyone have any first hand knowledge or experiences with this product. I was reading their manual and saw a warning that the environment should not exceed 95 degrees for a prolonged amount of time. Seeing that my rig will be stored in direct sun,,, this may very well be exceeded. Any thoughts or ideas? I'm not solely set on Allure,, I'd like to hear what other options there are out there. Thank you.
  • Here is a link to what I did. New Floor
I just did this a few weeks ago so it has not been through weather extremes yet. We have been below freezing a few times and up in the 70's and I have not noticed any problems.
    Good luck!
  • I think the temperature restriction was due to the adhesive. There is a new version out with no adhesvive. It has interlocking edges like laminate.
I believe it is Allure Ultra. You might check and see if the temp spec is better for it.
  • I have the click together Allure Ultra Flooring and do NOT recommend it in colder climates for storage. My planks have pulled apart on the narrow end once the temp gets in the 30s. I partly tore up the floor and super glued the narrow ends together and reinstalled. The following winter it pulled apart in an area I had not glued. This spring I will remove the remainder and glue all the narrow pieces together.
  • Thanks for the head's up. Question for you Sundancer, was the adhesive failure the only thing that you found wrong? I don't think she'll be exposed to extreme cold weather for a long time. I do however fear that heat maybe an issue. Knowing what you know today, would you have used a standalone adhesive aside from the strips? Do you think it would've made a difference? Thanks for your insight.

  • Laminate flooring is nice. But I think vinyl with a wood grain pattern is so much easier to install and less worry about getting wet from spills etc.
  • Did Pergo Laminate in our old Allegro. Never had any issue and much better than the dirt catching carpet. Very easy to do and had it done in 2 days including removing the old carpet.
  • I really want to replace the carpeting in my m/h ( 99 rexhall 32 ft ) I've looked at and read probably a dozen flooring howtos. And not one of them shows how to do the entry stairs. I'm guessing that the rolled edges and horizontals are glued. Even if the floor surfaces are not??. Thanks in advance for your help.
  • For what it's worth I'm glad this topic came up as I just Swiffered my wood flooring with wood floor solution but this thread prompted me to go look at the box of leftover pieces that the previous owner left in the coach and it is Allure! Oh well, at least I only oiled it ONCE!

I have to add that we had a loooong record breaking cold winter here in Wisconsin and the floor looks great.
