Engine running to deploy slides or not running is an issue where there are big differences. My winnebago Vista requires engine running. My old BT Cruiser would not deploy with engine running. Engine running makes sense from a power point of view but safety I guess has some that lock down if engine running. So check the manufacturer recommendations.

I had the long piece of molding across the bottom of the slide come loose today. It looks as if he needs to be re-glued so that is something else I need to deal with. Thanks again. It is much easier to get answers/ideas from you folks than talking with the dealer/manufacturer.

One more big voltage drain is if we have the inverter on and my wife has the coffee maker on, it will bring the batteries too low to operate the FWS.

Not 100% sure on your unit! but on my Discovery FWS, there is a low voltage lockout to prevent overheating the slide motors. It disables FWS operation if voltage is below 13.2 volts. In my coach when I first start the engine, the grid heaters come on, and they put a large drain on the voltage. I typically have to wait at least 5 minutes after start for voltage to come up enough to operate the FWS. Hope this helps.

Are there over rides on the slides? Batteries die what happens if bondocking and they die?

Was your engine still running?

Your batteries need to have a pretty good charge to make the slides work. Takes a lot of voltage to move a whole wall. Mine slow down if the house batteries are not 100%. I would say if it was not plugged in, you did not provide enough time for batteries to come back, and then it worked after they did, it was a low voltage problem. Your batteries will still lose charge even if disconnected, and especially in colder weather. I leaved mine plugged in all winter. Keeps the batteries from freezing and dying.

Did you try to extend as soon as you plugged in?
Did you have the parking brake set? Some coaches have an interlock to prevent extended the slide unless the parking brake is set. Mine requires 2 clicks on the brake pedal to get the dash light to come on. I can't move my small slide without that light on, it's part of the interlock circuit.
Also, I frequently leave my motor running until my jacks are down and slides are deployed. Never have a voltage issue that way.
