going from new to used

I got my first entry level class a about a year ago. Winnie vista. I've done some mods to it and have been happy overall.

Though there are some features I would like that aren't possible with mods. So I've been looking around and found a 2011 baystar that its a little longer but has more features that I'd like.

Its got 19k miles and with a little down plus trade in I'd basically keep the same monthly cost.

Any opinions as far as upgrading to a used model? 19k miles doesn't seem like much

Wondering if this would be a move that would cause me more trouble down the road than its worth because overall I'm not unhappy with my vista

You didn't say what model Vista you have. Out of the 3 mohos I've owned, the Vista 30W was the best. I looked at the Baystar and wasn't overly impressed for what they were selling for.
  • I have known several people who are new to RVs and end up changing 2-3 times in as many years before they finally have a unit that meets their needs. They all have lamented they should have held onto their first RV longer to get a better idea of what they really want instead of changing a few times and loosing thousands.
  • I have the 26he. Yeah I probably ought to just wait a bit more. Its fun I like it. Changed shocks out did chf and added a rear trac bar. It rides way better. Also changed dinette out for some comfy chairs.

Mainly id like a dinette and a couch. Also would like a rear slide so we have more room in the bedroom

If you are happy with the Winnebago quality in general, look into the Vista 30W or the 30T. The 30W does not have a slideout in the bedroom but it has a huge rear outside storage area. The 30T does have a slide in the bedroom with more inside storage, but loses a lot of storage area in the rear. The Vista 30 models come with a dinette and a sofa.
  • You do not own a new MH it was only new the day you bought it.
Something could go wrong in your present home today same as if you buy the one you are looking at.
  • I dunno... I know it's not as exciting, but I think keeping what you have is often the best choice. Unless you have a lot of $. RV'ing for some is about "how they want it" and for others like me "I make do with what I have". The game of musical RV's just makes dealers happy and your bank account lighter.
  • only one years experience in this one. go at least another year before deciding to trade. especially since you are happy with the current one.

  • Don't give in to the "Dark Side" just yet. Like you, I am always looking around and seeing what I think is a better coach. Have another year of fun in your present ride.
  • IF you're gonna upgrade, then go ahead and do so. But, instead of a small upgrade, look at something that's a little higher level than what you're looking at. You're basically going from one manufacturer's entry level to another manufacturer's entry level. This change does not make sense IMO. Plus you are going backward in year of manufacture. I would look at a slightly older, but higher level coach to replace your present entry level coach. I would look in the 2006 to 2009 range and see all the very nice coaches available that will give you much more than you presently have. This is just my opinion.
  • Thanks all for the advice. Ill wait it out. I do enjoy my coach esp after all the mods I did. I agree when its time to upgrade I need to go up a level.

    Appreciate the advice :)
