So...picked up our 09 Fleetwood excursion 40x and am presently at a campground. There's a loud buzzing in the master bedroom. It's not the breaker box (if I put my ear at the breaker and go up and then to the right, the buzzing gets louder)I checked the battery compartments and it seems not to be emanating from there. It's definitely higher up. It's so loud I can hear it on the outside of the coach. If I put my ear to the coach, I can hear a buzz/whine (sounds like a transformer)I checked the inverter (magnum m2000) and it's not that. Any thoughts???

That noise would be characteristic of a transfer switch. They sometimes develop a hum that can be very noticeable.

Stand where you can hear the buzzing and have somebody turn off the circuit breakers one at a time...until the buzzing stops. Then you'll know what it is.

Looking into your rear closet. On the right wall from the floor to about half way up is a removable panel. I think six screws hold it in place. Lots of room to work on ATS. Look here first. I am 99.99% sure it is here, not under the engine compartment cover. Check for loose wires.

Better hope they replace it. ESC contracts ONLY pay for replacement of a defective part and labor. NOT adjusting or tightening a part. Doug

Hey all, quick update. I bought the extended warranty with the coach and the dealer will run the repair/replacement through the warranty.

it could be a matter of just tightening up the contacts like several folks mentioned, but we'll see.

The ATS issue cropped up along with other issues I have to take the coach in for so might as well let the dealer deal with it.

The only things on my list the dealer wasn't willing to fix is alignment and a fogged up window. I'm not too happy about that, but understand where they're coming from.

Ok, got eyes on it. The sucker is in the back corner of the coach. I called Fleetwood and they say there's an access panel on the floor in the closet.

I'll pull it next time we're parked and clean/tighten the contacts. Odds are they're a bit loose being so close to the engine vibration.

ONE: Transfer switch: Some companies use a switch that has two pair of solenoids ONe for Shore one for Generator.. (mine does not, on shore the coils are not energized) Sometimes unplugging and re-connecting (just turn off the park's breaker) can fix, sometimes not.

Two.1 Converter/Inverter fan.. Something making contact with fan that should not

Two.2 Converter Transformer.. Not likely in a modern rig but still possible.

Blow out dust and clean and tighten these contact screws.

Transfer switch, had the same problem. New transfer switch no more problem.

Some switches you can clean the contacts.
