House Batteries

I hooked up to the campsite shore power in the afternoon I had the TV on I turn on one of the RV house lights at night and the TV turned off checked my Battery meter at the control panel Battery showed low had the Batteries checked the next day at AutoZone one Battery good the other dead won't take the charge, would this cause my charging system on the RV not to charge or keep the Batteries charged while hooked up to shore power
  • My guess is that the bad battery pulls the good battery down and the converter charger doesn't have a high enough charge rate to charge the two. I would disconnect and remove the bad battery. Charge the good one fully and check it's cells with my hydrometer to verify the health of each cell. If it has poor or bad cells consider replacing it too. Charge the new battery fully and check each of it's cells to verify their health. If AOK, install new battery and monitor how well converter charger is keeping the pair charged. Batteries are like children, they need attention. Make sure all battery connections are clean and making good contact.
  • My experience with a one dead battery of a 2 set. Is the bad battery keeps trying to charge both batteries. This cause both batteries to have their water boiled away.
