house batteries
Do any of you guys have a preference of Trojan-105 or an Interstate battery when they are the same price?

I just bought my 4 Kirkland Golf Cart batteries..... installing them this week. I paid $84.xx each one.
Costco told me that Johnson Control (if I remember the name correctly) makes there batteries. Also said they are the same as Interstate.

- Saw same in an interstate warehouse where labels were put on when loaded onto delivery trucks. I replaced 8 2200's with newer same size G's. Not bad for 7 years.
- I found out when we needed new batteries for the 5er that Johnson Controls
makes the Interstate and the same ones that Sams Club sells. So I go and
check them out. I payed 1/2 of what the Interstates were for the same battery. - When we had our gasser I bought a pair of new Trojan T105's at the custom golf cart shop in town. They were very expensive and worked very well.
The Knight came with Interstates, 2 workhorse batteries for the chassis, 4 2200's for the house.
She is 6 years old now. One of the chassis batteries went lame last fall, I just pulled it out (for the winter).
I am looking at probably replacing all 6 batteries in the spring, though since we're not travelling as much as I like these days, and plugged in always, I may let the house batteries ride until something actually goes bad....
It is true that there are only perhaps 2-4 non Chinese battery manufacturers, and many retailers get the same batteries with different labels for their "House brand"
when the time comes, I'll look at Walmart, and at napa and asutozone, and do some research as far as who actually makes the batteries, though even then, they might not be the same. Walmart and Sears are both famous for getting a primary manufacturer to make them a lousy product at a low price.
When push comes to shove, I will probably get real interstates for the chassis, and Trojans for the house. - I agree with Rooster on Interstate batteries. They have served me good, but now I have Deka. That is all I could find locally, so the jury is still out on them. They cost a lot less then the previous Interstate. I have had them about a year now, and it seems like they are pretty good batteries so far.
Ray and June brings up a very good point. The reason I tend to agree with his theory, is because when I was looking for chassis engine batteries, I went to Napa and they had sealed batteries called Heavy Duty Napa batteries. I asked who made them and they said Johnson made the batteries and just installed the label to who was buying them. So ray and June might have a very good point. Nomadac wrote:

That is kind of like asking: IF they were the same price would you want a Cadillac or the Chevy that is in fact teh same frame and body.
Answer: Cadillac of course.. And that would be the TROJAN.
Nothing wrong with Interstates, but Trojan is #1- Check if there is an Interstate Factory Store in your area as they sell blem batteries that are electrically fine, for a very discounted price. The last ones I bought were around $45 ea. with a core.
