- Gene_in_NEExplorer IIInside 100% of the time when not on a trip. Has been outside for 50,000 miles. Some tangible benefits:
1. Still looks like new
2. House battery was installed 10/23/04
3. Engine battery was installed 07/11/10
4. No roof leaks - tpiExplorerOutside in paid storage. I live in suburban tract with no storage room on my property. As much as I'd like to store it indoors (and fully understand the benefits), from a financial or practical sense I can not see an angle that it would pay for itself in my situation. One sad fact is the depreciation wizard does his job no matter how nice something is kept.
One thing has surprised me a bit-I have been able to keep these RVs looking very nice stored outside without huge amounts of work. I've tried to buy roof friendly models. On this RV, I'll take it to the factory for entire roof maintenance at some point. - goreds2ExplorerGirlfriend keeps her Class C in covered storage over winter and at her house outside during Spring, Summer and Fall. My Class B is outside at my residence all year round.
- ron_dittmerExplorer IIIndoors in northern Illinois, heated in winter, and naturally cooled in summer due to being under the house and partially under ground.
Nine years to-date and the rig still looks and even smells new. I highly recommend some kind of protection for a rig worth preserving. The question everyone has to ask them self....Is their rig worth preserving? If you keep them less than 7 years or so, your answer might be no. But if you plan to keep it for decades, I surely recommend it. - luberhillExplorer

Outside since day one. I head out every month for several weeks at a time, although not full-timing. I had looked at pole enclosures but just cannot pull the plug for the dollars. I am in/out of the RV so much with the slides in/out as well that a cover would be problematic as well. I keep an eye on the roof seal and have replaced all my standard vent covers already.
I can do a 28 x 40 for 20k....but I can do a crusher run pad for 250 :) - RobocopExplorerOutside since day one. I head out every month for several weeks at a time, although not full-timing. - Cousin_Eddie93ExplorerShe's stored under the side of my house. I say "under" because my house was built with 4 foot mega sophists thus the first three feet or so of the length of the RV's roof and drivers side of the RV is covered. The rest stays mostly shaded by a 6" wood fense and nearby tree. During the winter months, Nov - March she's cloth covered. I inspect the roof after each trip and maintain as needed.

What is a "mouse proof" building? :B - FULLTIMEWANABEExplorerOutside for 12 years in Canada's freezer box and under snow blanket for weeks at a time, and a combined two years in Sarasota Fla 2009/2011 .
FWIW: In Florida seen storage facilities that have like a heavy duty canvas roof with drop down sun shades on the sides (easy roll up). Just an idea. Good waxing now and then, and apart from Decals fading this 2002 Gas MH looks in excellent shape both inside and out. - OlddudExplorerInside a mouse proof metal building. It's a 2010 and looks just like new, except for the damage done when I dropped a concrete mixer (that's right -- a concrete mixer) on the drivers side fender/hood :(.
