How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

I'm new here, and curious.

How many of us in Class C own Dodge B300 incomplete
cab/chassis based RV's? I know two others- Steve aka
Ripsaw, with a 1977 Brougham, and Leroy aka 1978_Dodge
_Delta who owns a 440V8 powered sharp looking 1978
Delta RV. I would like to ask, and offer, help, idea
swapping and comparing notes on our particular RV's
which are based on the Dodge B300 van chassis.

Yeah, I know. These are low tech, podgy old RV's that
would be considered "entry level" for folks like me,
but I have a deep and abiding respect for the quality
of these old "monsters of the open road". And anyone
wanting to pick brains, joke about, share notes or just
brag about our old A- Dodge-io's are certainly welcome
to PM or email me. Between all of us we can form a real
good support group, and help each other with problems
we know we'll encounter with an older vehicle.

Sure. I'd love a new RV. But I'd rather have an older
one already paid for, and a lotta great memories. Call
me frugal, an old hippie, or whatever you will. I'm proud
of my old land yacht.

Mopar Madness Manifest in the flesh,

Mark aka White Knight

P.S. Mine's a '72. Is there an older one out there someone's
motorvating in? Maybe even a Travco? W/K

I know what it is like to park outside, that is what we did last winter with the ol' dodge, we only have a 9,6" door on our barn with 10 foot rafters. The barn the RV is going in is about 30 miles away as it is my neighbors friends barn.

Our 31' offshore is bedded down in our barn though. Now if only MH could tow that I would be all set.

Trish- the boat is good now, yeah. Just in time to put it in the storage trailer for winter...

eye- that's awesome. I wish my neighbor had an RV port to park in.

overdrive - that works just as well, too.

I'm jealous of the both of you. We park on the side of the backyard, pull in through the driveway or pull around through the yard access. No port, no cover. I'd love to, but getting a permit to do *anything* around here is a nightmare (we're in a so-called 'critical area').

garden - welcome! We want to see pics...lots of pics...

hey thats great overdrive,,, I have a great neighbor but he doesn't have a nice barn, I wish he did.... I have room in my back yard to build a RV cover but no alley access and not enough room to drive in from the front.... I need to come up with a solution one of these days.....
I don't think anyones dying statement ever contained the words "I wish I had spent more time in the office", so lets go somewhere!

It's it great to have nice neighbors. My RV is ending up a friend of the nieghbors barn. I have been drinking beer with him and the neighbor all summer so he just offered it up this year. He has 40 x 100 pole barn with cement floor and all he does it park his pickup in there. I asked what he build if for and he said it came with the house.

Eye--
Good for you. A port is a good thing.
Fumes, like Griff said.

Leeann--
The boat's good now, yeah?
Electronic fuel pumps are meant to last 5 years, tops. The one on the Merc quit last week.
I feel your pain because it'll be one replacing that thing in the wheel well.

Mark.
You started this and it blossomed, took on a life of its own.
This thread is one of the most well-behaved, informative places on the net.
Thanks.

Folks-

We're "teetering on the brink"!!
400 pages of history! Who would have
thought?

Thanks everyone! You all are the reason
this is what it is- a body of knowledge
and great association, the best of a true
cooperative effort at keeping a bit of the
American Dream alive and kicking!

Leeann, Trish, Griff, Eye and all you folks
here that step up and take the lead, I am
indebted to you all for what you do! If this
were a forum unto itself, I couldn't hope to
find or have a better group of Moderators and
Admins than all of you!!

To all the new folks here- the Boodles- thank
you for keeping the Dream going too. You are
the future of a wiser group of RVers who will
know the real meaning of "getting away" from it
all- not only in distance, but also in value.
It's what goes into the miles spent together,
not what we traverse them in.

May God bless, and watch over us all! I pray that
if we ever need to "circle the wagons", that it
will be for a large tribal dance!!

the lunatic in the lane next to ya...

Yeah and how was the race? How'd Sam's boat do?

Race was good. Sam was the only boat in his class, so he didn't run. But he did fix the fuel pump/ignition wire screwup while we were there, so it revs up fully now.

Now we have to figure out whether the RV's issue is fuel pump dying, clogged fuel filter or clogged sock in the tank.

Here's some killer news. My neighbor has a 40' "RV Port" on the side of their house. Said said I should park my RV in it for the winter. ๐Ÿ™‚ That could be awesome!!!! I little bit of plastic, and one of those jet heaters, and I could probably get the rest of the remodel done before spring!!!! We'll see how that plays out. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Be careful of the fumes coming out of those jet heaters ... they're chock full of carbon monoxide.

I replaced the fan clutch today. PIA... Now I know why NAPA tried to rent me "special tools". I should be more patient. I could have saved a few bucks if I was willing to wait for Rock Auto to deliver, but I wanted to get it done when it wasn't raining, and before the weekend. I also replaced the last of the window valances this afternoon. Looking pretty good. Too bad it's the about end of the season. Now that it's finally mobile again, I want to take it somewhere.

Yes, you can get the aluminum clean.
NAPA has Tal-Strip II, aircraft cleaner, that's wicked for removing paint from alum.

You would be a lot better off to clean up the old roof than go with rubber.
Rubber dries, rots, cracks at the corners and you're in S. CA with lots of sun.
Think hard about rubber roofing before you spend on it.

Leeann is right --there are more screws on the inside of the A/C.
Then you will have to push it up from inside to get it out.
Strong, tall men are very good for this.
