We are cleaning and loading the luggage in our 1996 Damon Challenger and it is hot like hell inside. The thing is I read in the manual that air conditioner can work either with generator or with external power source. The generator works ( I switched it on, and it works great)and is charging the batteries but I don't have power in the plugs and the microwave and air conditioner are not working as well... maybe there is a switch that makes it gives power to the plugs and appliances? It does not seem to be automatic... any tips?THANKS SO MUCH!

There is typically a breaker or pair of breakers on the Genset. If those arent tripped I would make sure you dont have to plug shore power cord into GenSet outlet in your utility or power bay, if you dont have a transfer switch.

Some Rvs have a transfer switch that does it and others like mine have a receptacle that the power cord has to be plugged into to power the House,A/C microwave and plugs. It looks like this.

Turn off both breakers and then back ON.And two different ways you can get power to your house:ATS= Automatic Transfer Switch- automatically connects to generator when generator running.Manual switch as pictured immediately above. You must unplug shore power cord and plug in generator.

X2 on the breakers. Move them off/on. Don't just look at them to make sure they're on.I had a similar problem, the breakers were not tripped. Resetting them solved the problem.

How is the Gen charging your batteries? Seems like maybe one line from the genny is working but not another. If above suggestions do not work. Take a look at the circuit breakers in the distribution panel, inside your MH. Flip CBs off and back on. They often appear OK but have opened.

Thanks for the tips but we have to hit the road very very soon and I think the best would be to visit a good garage that maintains such motorhomes in Toronto and to pay to someone to go through everything with us. Unfortunately the air conditioner is not working properly as well so we need someone to see it. We don't want to go without air conditioning in this weather... any ideas - we are in Toronto, east part near the lake - southeast Etobicoke, Port Credit, Oakville?

If it's charging the batteries, then it's feeding the converter/charger and must have transferred it's power to the coach, with however it's done. You'll need a voltage check at the converter's 120vac input and hopefully you have at least a 110vac. Also keep in mind that with most gensets, the 20amp breaker on the unit, only feeds the rear air and nothing else, if you indeed have one, but if not, it could be feeding the converter and the 30amp or is off or tripped on the genset.

The age of the Moho would suggest a manual transfer switch. My 2010 required that I plug it in to operate generator. Wonder if OP has gotten it working. I have a feeling we are going to be left to guess.
