Hydraulic Slide out problem

We have a 2008 Gulfstream Sun Voyager with four slides. Three of the slides are electric, and the large main slide is hydraulic. The problem is the hydraulic slide wants to drift going down the road even with the transit bar in place. The slide will drift out at the bottom about four inches. I have had it to the dealer and they were not able to find the cause. Any thoughts will be appreciated.
  • On my older coach the slide mechanism has a long threaded steel rod. It had a nut on the inside and out of bracket that moved slide in and out. The outside nut had backed off and rod was not secured tight to bracket. It had backed off about 6 " Tightened it up and problem fixed. My was in the bedroom and bracket was under bed.
  • I want to thank everyone for there comments, I think I will be having a conversation with the dealer at the St. Louis RV Vacation & Travel show on Friday.
  • We always use slide locks. There have been cases where a slide extended and hit oncoming traffic.
  • service center worked on it they never refilled my hydraulic tank

SCARY....and that's the problem with the non old school people...DETAILS...Doug knows details to the letter...my remote tech knows details....some service centers...DO NOT...and no one checks as quality control....

Doug is spot on with the fix. I had a hydraulic leaking jack and after a service center worked on it they never refilled my hydraulic tank. After I had picked up the coach our first trip out the large slide came all the way out because there was no fluid to keep it in. Almost caused a bad accident.

Scary stuff. That's just insanity to think about. People just remember that hydraulics work from pressure of fluid.... Think about house pipes with leaks but without so much volume of fluid. You want water pressure, you should not have a big open leak. Same thing with hydraulics but since they don't have the same volume, small leaks make a huge difference.

  • IF the slide is HWH, the problem is the retract solenoid is seeping internally. It is BEST to replace BOTH the Retract and Extend solenoids when this happens. If NOT HWH, and NO visible leaks, then the ram or solenoid system is leaking internally. But, need to know who makes your slide system. IF it is HWH, your dealer is not very good, as they should KNOW this. Doug
  • The guy next door has an 06 Mobile Suite with Hyd slides Hyd feet front and rear. Just setting it would drop in the front and the slides would drift out. Had a mobil RV guy come out and he call the factory and was told to hold the switch longer about 5 seconds when in to get each one in sink, problem solved.
Now you problem may be different but it fixed his.
