The rig is getting too much to handle because of my infirmness...(thats a word aint it??) and I think my RVing days are over.

Should I put her up for sale this fall or wait till spring?? Al I know is that it wont be cheap cause Ive got a ton of "extra's" that will go with it. Oil filters; hyd filters; fuel filters and so on and so forth.

Wife and I both sad to see her go but both agree its time for a new chapter in the book

Regarding Motorhomes of Texas.

I just shopped there for a Foretravel MN. I was impressed with the salesman. Seemed honest and very professional. I would be comfortable consigning a MH with them.

I may still buy one from them, but I think I found a better deal on a used one down the street at the Foretravel manufacturer.

If you winter in the south and back to Oh in the summer you can hire drivers to take it down for you. Just an idea. My wife say's I'm infirm but I think she's being nice and not saying FAT!

Actually, the start of the snowbirding season is starting right now this month, September, and runs through Thanksgiving or so Up North, where I believe Sully resides (Ohio or Indians?) So, it would help him to get a snowbirding couple in their Country Coach, that I am sure that Sully maintained well during his watch of ownership. 🙂

Good luck, Sully! We're sure going to miss ya here when you retire from RVing. 😞

I have to agree. Unlike MLS listings for houses, RVs don't have "days on Market" as part of the description. Like fishing, the longer your bait is in the water, the better your odds of getting a bite.
I also agree with another poster in that you would be much better served selling all your extras elsewhere. Adding them in to the price of the rig will just make your rig seem too expensive. 99.9% of people won't care about those items on iota. I know if I bought a rig with a bunch of extra filters, those filters would go directly into the trash, since I am too lazy to do my own service work and repair and maintenance shops generally won't guarantee any work that involves parts they didn't supply. Sorry to hear that you have to give it up, and good luck selling!

The first thing to do is to list your rig for sale on RVTrader dot com.

The idea of putting it up for sale with any consignment service a thousand miles away that then you either have to transport the rig to them, or, give them up to 15% of the sale price is ludicrous.

Too many pitfalls letting a company take the rig and deliver it to, or, you driving it to and then having to fly home another 1,000+ miles to boot. The incidences of risk involved, as well as the great sales charges just don't add up.

Far better to list yourself on RVTrader, and list on-consignment with a LOCAL RV sales lot.

Good Luck!

A consignment deal 1000 miles away seems like a lot of drama for a soon to be 16 year old coach.

On the other hand, that outfit makes it easy. As mentioned earlier, they will come get your coach and drive it back to Nacogdoches. If the OP does decide to consign it, Motorhomes of Texas would be a great choice.

I've sold some cars on Craigs but decided to consign the RV. As another poster said, I didn't want to deal with the tire kickers and useless test drives. Also, Craigslist is getting to be a real pain re spam type emails, calls and texts.

Another option might be Country Coach specific discussion groups.

Sully, sorry to hear you feel it is time to hang up the keys but we will all have to make that difficult decision at some time.

I have already decided that when we get to that point, I will use someone like Motorhomes of Texas. They seem to have nice rigs on their site (CC's are often listed) and I just don't want to deal with tire kickers (or have the DW do it if I kick off first).

At least you know that many folks are looking for well maintained CC's and appreciate their quality. Good luck and thanks for all the info and advice you have provided on this forum.

I had to sell my '03 Mountain Aire because I couldn't get up the six steps on it. I bought the 2 in my signature and am still wondering if I can continue but I love RVing.

Sully, sorry to hear that you feel like you must give up the RV! I would think that unless you can find a potential snow bird, your RV would sell better in the spring.
Best wishes and good luck!

Sully:

Sorry to hear your medical issue has ended your RV lifestyle. Financial considerations ended ours.

We sold our '02 Georgetown 325 (a purchase from the original owners in 2010) on consignment with a local dealership. We initially got screwed by the reported "only" offer, two months after the consignment, of half of what the dealership's "value consultant" thought it was worth. The owner of the dealership got a "conscience" when I started bad-mouthing them by name on this forum and others.

It turned out that the owner of the dealership had bought the RV, had some minor problems solved by his techs and then sold it for 80% more than the reported "only bid".

He finally fessed up when I started giving the outfit a hard time by name on this forum and a couple of others, and we renegotiated the deal to a value close to what I'd figured the rig was worth.

We're now out of the life-style due to cost. IMO if your hobby starts taking money out of your IRA, maybe a re-assessment is appropriate. That was our conclusion. We miss the lifestyle, too, but living in Anacortes has a lot of positives.

I know that's a hard decision for you to make as we made it recently. We really miss RVing. 😞

One thing, I don't think you can count on selling yours including an added price for extras of filters, etc. You really need to price it according to actual value. Perhaps you can sell your filters in a separate advertisement for the whole lot. Good luck!

Sully, sorry to hear that. Then again, cars and hotels might be easier.
