Instrument Panel Light bar acting up

Drove from Long Island to Syracuse (5 hour trip) to visit my son on Friday and the everything functioned perfectly. Went out Monday morning to start the coach and turned the key on. The startup check off screen (raise jacks, lower antenna, etc) came up and it immediately started flickering (sort of like how a bad florescent bulb flickers) and making a funny buzzing type noise. Also, none of the gauges worked. Turned the key off and back on and the same situation. I left the key on and after a minute or so, it went back to normal. Started up and drove for 5 hours with 2 stops and starts without a problem. Anyone else experience anything like this? If so, did you have it repaired and what was the fix?
Thanks

The fix to my problem was drying everything and replacing one bad relay. Your problem will be very hard to find until it malfunctions again.

Thanks for the encouraging news Fred! (LOL!)

Called FL help desk and they weren't much help (LOL!). Seems they won't do anything until the problem is more frequent. Not happy about that. It would seem to me that there should be some type diagnostics that could be run to diagnose the problem. But then again, I'm not an engineer so what do I know! (LOL!!!)

  • I had rain water get into the electrical bay and soaked some relays and wiring. Beside some malfunctions, I had one relay that was buzzing. The Freightliner helpdesk explained that the buzzing was a relay being "backfed" with current on one of the legs that would not normally have voltage coming to it.
