Inverter/charger

My RV is hooked to shore power and showing 50 amps.
When I have on several lights on and I turn the overhead exhaust fan, or another light the Inverter DC Amps will drop to 25 (red), the Charge will show 10.5.
When a couple of lights are turned off the Inverter will go back up in the green. Would weak house batteries cause this, or would the Inverter be going bad?
  • Doug nailed it..batteries...hopefully they are not totally dry..but I would have them loadtested at autozone anyway and replace what is necessary..All it takes is one dead cell and it takes it all down with it.
  • The OP has an Inverter/Charger. BAD batteries will indeed cause your problem. Even more so, IF the battery water is extremely low or boiled dry. Have you checked the Level of the water in the batteries? NEVER, NEVER, run an Inverter/Charger without batteries connected. You cannot run an Inverter/Charger with batteries disconnected like you can with a CONVERTER. Doug

A real bad battery or batterys could cause this but also the converter could be border line on output but sounds more like battery problem
  • Post the model number of the inverter/charger/converter but yes it sounds like you have a charging or battery problem. Or both.

You can disconnect the battery and see if the voltage holds up.
  • inverter ?

    do you mean converter/charger

or is yours a combo inverter and charger

DC battery charging amps, comes from a converter OR the converter section of a combo unit

Could be either so I would unhook from shore power and see what happens. Assuming the same then I would put a battery charger on the battery without hooking up to shore power and after an hour see what happens.
