I do agree, not all inverters are created equal.. I am a ham radio operator.. now what this means is I occasionally chat with other hams via radio,, Our radios are always under 1,000 watts average and most are closer to 100 (Compart this to your local AM or FM broadcast station) We chat rather long distance. I'm in Southern GA (Townsend) and the last person I talked to in Kentucky.. ANd that was just today.. Cranking the power DOWN I have gone digital (30-40 watts) and talked to Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Cuba, and more.. This means a very senistive radio receiver.. So what does this have to do with inverters?

MSW inverters generate a LOT of radio frequency interference.. LOTS of it.

This is why I have a Prosine 2.0 (Xantrex, True Sine Wave) So far I have had exactly one piece of hardware that was not happy with it,, A coffee pot.. The very same coffee pot (modified) that brewed my morning up of brew, The clock timer is no more, but it still makes great coffee, just with a manual switch.

Not all MSW is the same with some better than others.
Yes you will do better with SW. I recommend GoPower.

inverters put out varying degrees of true sine waves. For $100 you get square waves. For $600 you get true sine waves and no interferance on your tv.

I stand corrected on that price, sine wave convertors have come down in price by some 60%. I just replaced one that was a nice 600w unit for $220. No tv buzz at all and no fan noise, what a great unit.

Obviously MSW inverters are not built to the same standards from company to company. I have both types of inverters in our rig and our LED tvs, HD sat receivers, Blu-ray player and Bose system can't tell the difference in terms of their overall performance. We did run our microwave convection a few times off our MSW unit but as a precautionary practice use our genny to power it now.

With the prices of true (or pure) sinewave inverters coming down to reasonable prices last couple of years it would be wise to go that route, read reviews to eliminate problematic brands as they too are not all built to the same quality standards.

Over the years I have blown up two 24-inch fans, one electric blanket controller, several motor driven and transformer driven items get exceptional hot using the MSW INVERTERs.. I finally got me a duty AIMS 600WATT PURE SINE WAVE INVERTER for my home entertainment and emergency items like NOAH WX Weather Receiver, fans, cell phone chargers, computer chargers, and a few other items.

NO way would I plug my electronics into a MSW Inverter. Years past it was because of of higher price for the PSW models. Thats not true anymore...

I have two locations in my trailer that has a multi-port 120VAC receptacle that is powered by my always on 600W PSW Inverter($149 AMAZON). Being PSW I have no fear of what might get plugged into the two receptacles and going up in blue smoke.

To the users who claim they have not ever had a problem using MSW Inverter to me is like the Wichita Falls farmer backing out into traffic on Texas Route 79 south of town like he has done every day for the past 30 years. Then a tractor trailer runs over his old pickup truck. I was behind the tractor trailer truck and had to do a hugh invasive run down the bar ditch to miss the may-lay... No one hurt but the farmers old truck was destroyed... His comment to the police was "I have been doing this for the past 30 years - The truck driver should have known I would be backing out into the the road"

Same here, excpt 14 years. I now have a Magnum PSW and can not tell the differance.

Perhaps your inverter is having some issues??
