KWIKEE Step Problem

My 2000 REXHALL Rose Air steps work like they should , EXCEPT , they do not RETRACT all the way.
The ALMOST make it , but there is about6-8" of step , still showing.
I have replaced motors before , but never experienced THIS problem.

ANY IDEAS ?

  • Rich, since nobody else has replied, I will try to help. Try assisting the steps going in with your foot. Be carful here as the steps are no joke, and can trap your foot if placed in the wrong place. If after a couple times of assisting the steps, they retract, leave them out and use either carb cleaner, or brake cleaner to clean all of the joints and the actuating arm under the steps. Run the steps in and out several times while cleaning. After all are clean and working sat, lube all joints with motorcycle chain lube, as this will penetrate and then set-up, to lube the joints.
    Good luck.

If you pull the pin, thereby disconnecting the motor drive, will they then retract, as designed. Just trying to figure where the problem might be here.
  • Thanks for those responses.
    I will try both.

Disconnect the motor and move the steps manually to verify that the steps move without binding. I expect that they are binding somewhere.
