- Dutch_12078Explorer III doubt that anyone here can authoritatively answer that. I can tell you that the 22 year old A/C's on a previous RV we owned are still working fine. As are the 16 year old A/C's on our current coach.
- stickdogExplorerOurs is 13 years old and we're fulltime the last 7 years and it gets used for both hot and cold it's a heat pump.
- down_homeExplorer IIOur heat pumps are now 13 years old. They are kept clean and still working.
Thought I had a bad capicator a few days ago. It was jut one unit set lower on the thermostat.
We did replace a capictator two years ago. - ScottGNomadIt really depends on where you are.
Here in Western Washington they will probably out last the RV 6~10 times but in Florida, who knows! - msmith1199Explorer IICovered storage, open air storage, humid climate, dry climate?? Lots of things likely effect the lifespan. My RV is 13 years old and both still work fine. I did replace the covers a couple of years ago as they were brittle and falling apart.
- LVJ58ExplorerWe have the Dometic Brisk Air units on our 17 year coach and just this year had to replace the control modules in both and a blown start capacitor in one.
- TinstarExplorerMy old coach a/c units are 23 years old and my present coach ones are 15 years old. That's in Texas heat.
- Teacher_s_PetExplorerWe fulltime. We bought our Phaeton new in 2005. Our rear Coleman heatpump is 12 years old, only repairs have been the addition of a hard start capacitor and a new thermostat. We are on our 4th Coleman in the front of the RV, plus a thermostat at 6 months and a control board on one of the units. When they failed fatally, it was always the compressor that locked up. Both ducted heatpump units are the same size, 15,000 Btus
- Bruce_BrownModeratorOn our current MH the first one was replaced under warranty within the first year, the second one now needs replacing.
Prior to that every MH we ever owned still had the original AC on it, with the oldest being 20 years old.
I'll say it...they just don't make them like they used to.
