Lost Power on all appliances - Microwave, A/C, outlets

Hi,Gurus,
After I changed my house batteries , all my ac appliances and outlet stop working. I took a picture of the wiring connection before I disconnected the wiring, it is exactly like it was before. no sure what happened, maybe I should have discounted the power line before I changed the batteries?

I did reset all breaks, no luck, looks like only the inverter breaker is doing something, when I turned off the inverter breakers, all lights went out.

So what I have right now is if I unplugged the connection to my 50 amp power source, all DC went dead as if I did not have battery connected at all.

if I plugged in the 50 amp power source, only DC was working (lights) , ALL A/C appliances - Microwave, A/C, outlets etc., did not work at all.

Please help!!!

Thanks in advance!

I am suppose to go on a 11-day trip today ::(

Your batteries are not providing 12vdc to the house. THey are disconnected or a fuse or breaker is tripped or they are toast.
>I missed a wire on the battery connection, that fix the DC issue

SOME RV's have an Energery Management system (Common in high end 50 amp units) this is designed to shed selected loads ICLUDING the A/C and Microwave when running on 30 amps and drawing too much current. THIS should hot affect outlets however.

I'm thinking there are circuit breakers on the inverter as well and they power the outlets and microwave

>I am plugged in to 50 amps power source. The problem is I have reset all breakers many time, and does not know if there is a fuse causing all this

I understand that.. IF you have an INtelletec EMS it needs 12 volts to work and the fact the 120 comes live (or did) beore the 12 might bother it (I do not have one and thus can not tell you more)

But with the exception of the Air conditioners, Water heater and Fridge, On many high end RV's all other electrical outlets run through the inverter.

True story.. Knock on my door. Friend's next site nighghbor had a problem half his outlets and his TV's not working.

As we returned to his rig I ask about an inverter.. he did not know if he had one.

Well he opened the battery compartment (no not there. IN fact should NEVER be there) then the compartment next to the batteries (BINGO a very nice high end Tripp-Lite multi-kilowatt job) with a tripped breaker.. Problem solved.

Thanks for all your help.
Here is what I did to fix it.
1) Tight the nuts on all battery connections
2) instead of push one end to start the generator, push other end for 10 second, I started to see red light on the power indicator, then push to start generator again. and that DID started the generator
3) Tight the 50 amps electric connections , because I park far from the house receptacle, the wire was really stretched. one end connect to RV is not tight enough, so it did pass some electricity to power the RV inverter, but no enough power to power the 110v!!!

ALMOST HAD A HEARTATTACK!!!

Does it make a difference if you unplug shore power and run the generator?

First question is do you have a salesman switch? Second question is do you know where it is? Usually it's near the front door, but it depends on the mfg. This switch is designed as a convenience switch to turn off A/C power quickly without having to turn off the disconnect switch in the basement. Check to see if yours in on. Recheck the breaker on your inverter. On mine it's a really small push button and easy to miss. Yours may be different. Recheck all your wiring. salesman switch is fine.
One wire was hiding behind the battery, that causing the DC problem, I have reset all breaker many times. as of right now, the ac, power, outlets problem still persist...

1. Salesmen switch would have NO affect on the roof AC operation. BUT, IF the salesman switch is OFF, THAT would affect the operation of the roof AC controls(tstat). But it would not affect 120 to the AC

>Salesmen switch is one , DC problem is caused by a missing wire!
2. So, from the description, his battery disconnect is OFF. Find the switch and turn it on
3. Inverter/Chargers are NOT wired thru the battery disconnect switch. They are connected directly to the coach battery bank.
4. Yes, you should always disconnect 120 power when changing batteries, but I doubt that is the cause of your problem.
5. What is strange is you state you have interior dc lights that work. They should NOT work if the battery disconnect is OFF.
6. Also, you may have a EMS(120 energy management system) system that controls your AC units and the microwave and THAT requires 12 volt and 120 power to be ON. Doug
>DC is good even not plugged in to the power source, but AC ,outlets problem still not fixed...

PS, I would be a rich man if I had $100 for every customer that stated with 100% certainty that he had ALL battery cables connected correctly and did not miss a wire or connect it wrong when changing his batteries. When then come in I point it out and they were positive they did it right. If it worked correctly before YOU messed with it, the odds are it is something you did wrong

YOU ARE RIGHT! I MISSED A WIRE!
Unfortunately it did not fix the ac power issue...
Any idea how to reset EMS System?

Thank you! You are right, I DID miss a wire, that fixed the DC problem. still no power on all appliances and outlets

Make sure the "salesman switch" is not turned off. Usually by the entry door.
I use diffferent colored ty-wraps to mark where to re-connect wires when doing projects. Work great.

You say you are plugged into 50amp. Check that breaker and do both of the legs have power. When you did your inhouse breakers to reset did you turn all of them off then on. Check your GFI outlets make sure they are not tripped.

As stated before double check the battery wiring make sure you did not miss a cable. I know about that from experience drove me crazy for a couple days then a non connected wire showed up. Make sure you did hook up correct wires to pos. and neg posts. Is your battery disconnect switch turned on.
