- lhenry8113ExplorerWe have a Magellan Roadmate with the 7 inch screen. Have been using it about 5 years with no problems. Wanted the 7" screen-screen a lot easier to read. On my cell phone I also have an App. called "iExit" which is great when traveling and need to find fuel, restaurant, etc.
Lars - pointrowExplorerI will never buy another one. Too many quirks in trying to put in an address or destination. It has miss directed us way to many times to trust it that we double check it with another device.
It couldn't evan find Phoenix Int Raceway couple weeks ago, tried to take me 50 miles out desert in the wrong direction.
good luck
pointrow - rctourExplorerOP this is on topic but maybe not exactly what you were looking for.
I too have been looking at the new Magellan GPS and wondered if it was time to replace the older model I have, which I really like. If you go on Amazon and read the 4 reviews it looks like people are having trouble with the options/complicated software. It's like QuickBooks accounting software, unless you spend lots of time learning it you absolutely will not have it function correctly.
Perhaps you should get something more user friendly like may people say about Garmin. As an aircraft pilot I try to stay away from Garmin, as they are a blood sucking monster in the aircraft industry. - Bill-RExplorerI use a Garmin 465t which is no longer produced. Garmin does have a replacement for it. I like it because it has a truck mode and a car mode. I use the truck model for my motor home and use the car mode for all other uses. I found the most important features are life time map update and a way to add points of interests. I know some of the gps have campgrounds etc available on them but I am not sure of the models. Best thing to do I call the different manufacturers and find out which one meets your needs. I drove commercially all over the country and my Garmin was exceptional.
