Have you pulled the monitor panel and seen if there is power getting to it (I would guess to the switch you replaced)? Have you verified that you connected the replacement switch properly, and didn't accidentally connect to the NC and NO contacts but not the C (or something similar)? Does it work if you jumper the switch?
If there's power through the switch, then it would seem to me that the most likely culprit is the wiring between the switch and the monitor panel circuit board, or something on the board itself. Maybe there's a cold or cracked solder joint where the power or ground attach to the circuit board.
