More route to Albuquerque

Thinking of rt 70 to 44 to 40 from Mass. I know the route to Columbus as we spent 15 years showing sheep all over the country, however the above mentioned routes are unfamiliar. Any suggestions or must see sights will be appreciated. As usual road conditions are equally important. This seems to be a more direct route than the one I outlined in a previous post. Thanks John McD
  • Your proposed route, I-70 to I-44 to I-40 is exactly the route we drove this summer from central New Jersey to Albuquerque. Overall we found the roads to be in pretty good condition. I believe the roughest roads we hit were through and around Oklahoma City.

We got to I-70 in western PA via I-287 in NJ to I78, to Pa Tpk, and then onto I-70 where it separated from the Pa Tpk just west of Donegal.

  • I-40 from OKC to Albu is fine except for some construction zones here and there. There is a toll road around OKC that you might want to consider using if time is worth more than money. I-44 is a toll road in OK. If you do not want to pay a toll then stay on I-70 to Kansas city and take I-35, US 50 and US 54 to I-40, it adds two hours or so to your drive but they are all good roads. Watch for speed traps in the small towns though.
  • Just came from Santa Fe, NM and part of the trip was on 70, west of Indy, and don't think you will like it. Thought we were going to need to tie cabinets shut it was so bad. Further east on 70 is much better.
  • That's the way I would do it from NH. What time of the year are you going and how long do you have to get to ABQ?

Not to be a pain but where are you starting this Adventure - hard to answer a question that has parts missing,

    JMHO,

    Well, he said Mass.
I can assume what that means, you can try.
