Unreal...I go to American Heritage RV Park..a place that is supposed to be a decent campground....I get thru traffic and when I get there, the site they give me is unusable for a right slide or door due to a tree...they then send me to a site which is in their new area..I hook up and get all kinds of fault lights...it turns out the row I was in (the 130 row) has 4 bad posts in a row...only one of the 4 posts had correct 30 amp electric...nice of them to tell me and my progressive was going crazy...it was dark so I stayed the night with 30 amps..they moved me to decent site the next morning..no trouble after that...BUT, in comes another person and he hooks up and comes running out and plays the same game I did...when I was measuring the posts up, one guy came running and told me they knew about it, but haven't fixed it....GRR!!!!!!!...so I laid it on the park manager and got shrugged shoulders....SOMEONE SOMEWHERE WILL HOOK UP TO THAT POST AND FRY!!!...my question is WHY DON'T THEY FIX IT??????...is everyone that ignorant and stupid?...if it wasn't for my surge protector who knows?....shame on you American Heritage..yes, you made it right in the end..but don't blow the problem off...

A few years back my hubby was not thrilled about spending that amount of money on a Progressive surge protector for hooking up, and I simply asked him how much a new RV plus motel bill while we looked would cost ... he blinked and purchased the surge protector ! We took will not hook up directly to any post in any rv park or campground.

Maybe that's the difference in campgrounds that are run by Managers and those who are run by Owners.

I have seen low voltage fairly commonly in our travels. I was able to muddle along with our Hughes Autoformer very well. We are looking at another rig and I asked that the hardwired version be added to that one as well.

X10!

Our PI Surge protector, subsequently upgraded to their full EMS, has saved our rig many times. Not just marginal RV parks can be a problem. Once stayed a friends place out in the woods. Went to plug into his extension cord but checked it into the EMS first and found reverse polarity. He had rewired the plug backwards about a year earlier and had just not used the extension cord in that time.

At least a dozen times in the last couple of years, all across the country we've encountered incorrectly wired pedestals, open neutrals, bad/no ground etc. I will never, ever, plug in anywhere without first going through my EMS. The risks of too low/high voltage which can occur just about anywhere and knowing that it only takes once to cost you thousands of dollars in damage was enough to make me a believer. To those who choose to forego surge/EMS protection I wish you luck because sooner or later you will probably need it.
