Need help with TV replacement

The wife & I bought a pristine 1999 Winnebago Adventurer, and while everything is in great shape, the TV's are analog & will not work in todays world. The rear TV was simple to change out, but the front TV is driving me nuts. (Very, very short commute for that) What is the procedure to remove the front TV from it's perch? Please keep in mind that I am not gifted with advanced mechanical abilities. Any help would be deeply appreciated.

Good timing on your question as I just took my tube tv out yesterday. Very simple job really. Remove the plastic covers that hide the four philips heads screws that hold the plastic trim ring on.Remove the trim surrounding the tv. Using a 7/16" socket or wrench, you'll see the 2 nuts (one on each side of the tv) that is holding the tv in its locked down position. Remove these 2 nuts via the side compartments and the tv will be loosened up for a lift up and out of its cabinet. Be prepared for some disconnecting of wiring. There will be enough slack to slide the tv out and reach around back to disconnect the RG6 cable and speaker plug. Remember to unplug 120v before pulling it out completely. A helper will be useful but I did it myself w/o too much trouble. Now I'm researching what I'll replace it with.
  • X2 on heavy to take out, I found that staples in our area will recycle TV's for free!! I waited several years before replacing the front TV. The hardest part was trying to decide which way to go on a support system. I finally just installed a 1" thick by 10" high pc of plywood across the opening to mount the flat screen on. I used 2ea 1-1/2" vertical Alum angles on the sides of the TV cabn't to mount the wood pc too. I just recently installed a Winegard Traveler dish to replace an obsolete KVH dish on the MH roof. It was a bit costly but worth every penny since my wife and I use TV for most of our nightly entertainment while winter camping in the warmer southern climates!
  • The hardest part is getting that big lunk out of there! Then the dump charged us $20 just to take it. Find a deep lake nearby.
  • If it is a hurricane, simply pick up the telephone and call the service dept in Elkhart. They can probable explain it injust a minute. We have visited the factory several times and have always found theservice dept very nice and helpful.
  • Can't be sure about yours, but the tube type TV in our 2006 Hurricane was supported by a sort of jacking system. Look in the adjacent compartment, probably with the antenna booster, and see if there's an access hole with some sort of bolt recessed in it. If so, turn the bolt and hopefully the TV and the tray it sits in will lower. Make sure to remember which outlet the TV is plugged into; it should be wired so it loses power when the ignition is on. My understanding is that it's illegal to have the TV where it can be turned on while driving, assuming the driver can view it. Good luck!
  • If you go over to the Winnebago forum on irv2.com and do a search you will find a series of threads on Adventurers - some have pictures - about removing the front TV.
  • I can't speak to your motorhome, but I replaced mine on my Tropical. It was actually a pretty big job and that front TV weighed a ton. I posted photos here, let me see if I can find the post and I'll give you a link to it. There are others who have switched out the TV;s too and posted photos here.
