New owner electrical problem/question

I parked my motorhome in our storage unit and tried to plug into a 110 outlet. It immediately tripped the circuit breaker. I was using the 50 amp shore power cord with an adapter to plug right into the outlet. It's about 25' long.

I checked and rechecked everything in the coach and nothing was turned on. I even had the fridge switched over to gas only. I wouldn't think the battery charger would pull enough amps to trip the breaker.

Any ideas?

it WH for Water heater! If the water was HOT why would you need to heat it? Sorry a Plumber Pet peeve. The outlet you are pluging into is a GFI? The more they trip the weaker they get So the outlet may need changed also. If a new one trips you my have an issue in the camper

Are you tripping a breaker or a GFCI?
If it's the latter then you have a problem someplace - probably the RV fridge.

hwh hot water heater

Yes your battery charger could be enough to trip a small breaker. You did not mentions the size of the breaker.

Your panel may allow you to set the charging level from 10% to 100% for example. At 100% it could easily overload a normal outlet if the batteries are being charged from a low state.

Or if the breaker is a gfci it may not like the setup as well.

what is hwh?

No idea what else is on the circuit. I really just want to keep the batteries charged. Should I buy a little charger and hook it up to the batteries?

Your 50 to 20 adapter could be faulty.

Bad Circut breaker if you have plugged the coach in else where with no issues.

You should be OK, we have used the 110/15 amp to 50 amp adapter many times with no problems. Do you know of anything in the storage unit on that circuit that has it at capacity? Try another outlet that you know is not providing power to anything else.
