No 120 volts to the rv.

While in a campground near Dayton Ohio I lost my 120 volts to the rv.
This is the second time this has happened. I arrived, hooked up to the shore power with a "Surge Guard" surge protector between the 120 volts and the rig, which allows the power to come on after 180 seconds.
This worked fine for about 2 hours then all of a sudden the 120 volts quit and never came back.
I had 12 volts via the battery and 120 volts via the generator.
Now I am booked in to have this problem looked at at the local RV dealer but not till the end of July.
If anyone has any ideas or what I can test for it would be appreciated. I did check all the 120 volt breakers and nothing seemed to help. I'm wondering if there is a problem with the convertor box where the 120 volts attaches, or now after doing
some study perhaps its the transfer switch as you fellows mentioned.
Hopefully I have given out enough information. Thanks in advance.

I have a suggestion. The end of the shore cord should go into a junction box where it connects with a cable that connects to your converter. The shore cord and the cable are usually connected by wire nuts. When you pull out your shore cord, you can possibly loosen the connection to this cable. As a result, you could disconnect power from the pedestal to your RV. This happened to me. Check the end of the shore cord to see if it is connected properly.

In our 2009 Greyhawk 31FS, the Auto Transfer Switch was under the refrigerator with the converter and the inverter.

Have you verified that the Campgrounds outlet still has power to it?
could a GFCI or breaker have tripped on their side?

First off....
Converter has nothing to do with RV having 120V AC power
It is fed 120V AC power via an individual branch circuit breaker and converts that AC power to DC power (to recharge battery and supply the 12V DC System when AC power is available)

120V AC power comes from your shore power cord OR Generator
Each AC source goes to the auto transfer switch which then passes the 120V AC power to your MAIN AC Power Panel (where rv main breakers and the individual breakers are)

Most transfer switches default to generator side. Gen ON then transfer switch swaps to gen side so it supplies the AC power
THen when gen is off and shore power is connected it swaps back so shore power supplies the AC power
Sounds like the transfer switch relays/contacts stuck/burnt on Gen Side and not swapping to shore power side.

Look for a metal box with shore power cord, gen power cord going in and then main cord coming out.
That is the ATS (auto transfer switch)

If you are NOT comfortable/understand working on 120V AC then most you can do is whack the box with shore power on and see it it swaps.
Otherwise lid has to come off, connections checked, relays/contacts inspected
Is it time for your medication or mine?

Ok I have corrected my post. Seems Ive caused a bit of confusion as well as humour.
First of all yes I did bypass the surge protector but still no changes. No power.
So I'm thinking the problem is at the fuse box in the converter or perhaps broken wires in the power cable leading into the RV.
I am not a technician nor am I a handy man, and I am dealing with electricity.
Perhaps I should stand down on this fix for now.
Thanks for the kind help everyone.

If that capacitor box detects low voltage, high voltage, or bad ground it may shut you down.

"Capacitor box," is that like the movie, Back to the Future?

The box with the 180 second delay may be a Surge Guard/Protector. Does it have warning/test lights on the box or a digital readout? Is this a box you connect to the park power and then plug in your cord?

Either the" capacitor box "???? or the auto transfer switch.

OP is probably thinking of the transfer switch.
Normally the transfer switch time delay is wired to the genset to give it a little time to level out.
My guess is the transfer switch has failed.
It is normally located near the converter.

Not sure what a "capacitor box" is that delays turning on the 120 vac, but that is the first place I would look. Can you bypass it?
