"With an item as mission critical as a gen turi why make up something that may or may not work." The venturi effect is fairly simple and easy to duplicate and test. Using a IR temp gun and changing the distance from the generator's exhaust pipe I was able to get the temp of my $20 "mission critical" rig down to 118 degrees measured just above the elbow. As you can see after five years and probably 40 days of use, the paint on the down spout is not burnt, even in the elbow. I prefer to make $100/hour by spending $20 and an hour of my time instead of paying $120 for a Gen Turi.
Now the steel sweep is an entirely different story as you better give it 15 minutes to cool down before taking it off. If there is a strong wind I'll angle it into the wind to make up for it.
