Since replacing cooling unit, and 2 heat elements, and reinsulating the chimney pipe we now have a workin fridge. 35°and fin tem p of 27° all whiile75 to 80 degrees outside temp. They had wrong elements(higher then needed) and cooling unit had blockage. No more hot upper wall either

Doug rainer , the shop said it was butchered from the last time it was replaced. Thanks for the tip. Problem fixed.

RV is in norcold reefer shop Rvcr ,monroe nc. 1200Lrim had a blocked cooling unit. To replace and redo chimney pipe insulation. 1950.00. All with 5 yr warranty. Cost to me 100.00 for deuctible, and shop supplies through extended warranty. Pick it up wed or thurs, 19, or 20th.

The position of the Temp Thermister really has no bearing on your type problem. They should have hot wired the 2 120 elements for 24 hours/blocked off the drain tube for the evap pan tray and run it. After obviously checking the door seals. Now, IF the outer silver box insulation has deteriorated over the years, it has lost the insulation capacity and the complete refer must be replaced. You must pull the refer to examine the sides of the insulated box and if it had looseness and voids behind the silver cardboard, the box is ruined. I had this happen last year to a customers 12 year old 1200 and after contacting Norcold, they informed of this problem they became aware of about 2 years ago on older 1200 models that experianced your type problem. Like I said, lack of cooling from thermal mastic incorrectly installed is only noticed while in transit. It IS possible, the CU was not charged correctly by the rebuilder. Doug

picked the RV up and they did not pull refer out any, moved the thermistor to the last fin on right and said to try it. As far as the commitment to fix the the insulating material for 600.00 they claim that's what is most likely is the cause no guarantee. They said the fans are working, heat elements ok freezer cooling to -5 so theres nothing left. I used it this past weekend and 42 degrees at midnight long after the sun went down. fin temp 35. didn't seem any better. I was at the shore never got over 65 degrees outside temp during the day and mostly rain. I did hear fan or fans running once and awhile.

There is NO WAY to know this without pulling the refer and the cooling unit. If they have NOT pulled the cooling unit, they are GUESSING, at $600 for the guess. I would ask for a written contract that states IF they do this repair and the refer does not perform to specs, you get your $600 back. BTW, this type cooling issue (lack of sealant) usually ONLY happens when in transit and NOT parked. Please call and ask them how they determined this is the problem and post their response. Doug

they say the cooling unit was not sealed with thermal pac or something like it.and that caused the unit to leak the cold all around the lower portion of fridge. They want 600.00 to remove and seal it right.

Hey Coyote74, so sorry to hear about the damage to your coach, that's gotta hurt, hopefully his insurance will cover the repairs and they'll be done to your satisfaction.
