norcold fridge beeping

Hello everyone
We have a 2006 four door norcold fridge in our rv. It is driving me crazy. I close the fridge part doors and soon after almost always the panel lights up "dr" and it beeps. Any suggestions to fix this?

Thanks vikki
  • My 1200 beeper wouldn't shut off about 5 years ago. The door wasn't high enough to close the switch at the top of the door. Removed screw on bottom of door hinge. A stubby blade screwdriver did the job. Raised the door up enough to slide a flat washer on top of the hinge between the hinge & the door. Reinserted the screw and no unnecessary beeping to this day. Mine is a 2003.

While the above suggestions will stop the beeping, it won't fix your problem, if there is one..:S The beeping is supposed to tell you the door seals are not sealing properly. It's up to you whether you want to fix the issue or simply cover it up. Sort of like taking the light bulb out of the dash assembly because the check engine light is on.....by the way, the door seals are not replaceable but you can bandaid them up if necessary. How's the fridge cooling? OK? not OK?....Dennis

WRONG. The door seals seal regardless of where the door sits. If the doors open and closes without scraping or binding, the door seals ARE sealed. What has happened is over the years the weight in the doors has slightly dropped the door 1/8 inch or so and that is enough to not engage the light switch above the door. Doug
  • You may be trying to fix the symptom and not the real problem...
These four door Norcold fridge's are notorious for having weak plastic hinges. The lower door hinges really take a beating when traveling especially when items are placed in the door storage spaces.

If you look across the tops of the doors when closed you may see that they are not straight across but one door may have sagged down being actually lower in the opening than the other (this is what happened to mine).. this causes the door not to close correctly and the door alarm to sound.

I had read on here before that the Norcold hinges were very week so I pulled my doors off and sure enough.. one hinge was broken.

I fabricated a piece of flat stock with holes in it to mount to the bottom of the door to reinforce/replace the hinge.

  • I had to tape a piece of cardboard on top of the right door to make the switch turn off. Look for the pressure switch at the top of the door opening that turns off the light when the door closes.
  • Put a piece of Velcro on top of the white plastic of the door(soft side). That will be high enough to close the light switch. You have 2 switches, Velcro both. Doug
  • The light switch the door contacts when the door is closed.
  • It's telling you the door (dr) is not closed all the way. You can adjust the doors but not the latch. I gave up on one side and taped the switch closed.
