norcold fridge, no display - blown fuse?

Mine did the same thing. I checked outside and the device installed for the recall had a red light. This device is intended to shut 12v power off in case of high temps in the burner tubes. If the device is the new style a magnet can reset, mine was not and it was replaced free. Best to have technician check it out. I did and my refridge was leaking Ammonia!So bad we had to leave the mh for a night! Had to replace ! Not cheap.
Even though it was reset, something made it trip, just be careful and be aware.

Guys - thanks for all the things to try listed above. I also have a Norcold and mine quit, no LID light, no nothing. When I checked it outside I found my ice maker water line had a hole in it and everything was soaked. I turned the breaker off and got a fan in there for several hours. After everything was dry I checked all the fuses and everything was fine. I pulled the box with the red light apart and put a small magnet to it. I heard a little pop and the light reset. Now the refrig is working fine. What a great tip from this forum!

It is a spring type point contac and the Magnet pulls it back to the normal open position. That is the correct fix for any recall box with a red LED on. Doug

Just know that the black box you are speaking of (glad you got it working and I learned something too) is a Norcold fix for RV Fridge fires they are having. If you find it (the red light) goes on often, have the unit checked out.

My red light went on while we were in Lake Havasu this past summer. I thought it was because of the heat, but it turned out that the two fans the fridge uses to circulate cold air where not working at all. All good now - just be observant !!

Sorry, been running like a dog. I just re-read the posts from Dennis and 'Old-Biscuit', which describe the recall pretty well. Thanks guys. The only trip we have planned is a weekender at a local State Beach park. we can manage with coolers for a couple of days. I would sure hate to bypass that recall circuit and have a major issue result. We'll see what the shop guys have to say.

I pulled the cover off the circuit board in the compartment behind the fridge, and found the 2, 5-volt fuses. Both check out OK with an ohm meter. I think that's as far as I'm going to go with trying to fix this myself, made an appointment with the repair shop. I did buy the extended warranty, so it should be covered. I still don't know what that small add-on circuit board with the red led is all about. Someone mentioned a recall. Would that ckt board be associated with a recall that happened before I bought this rig about a year ago? I'll also ask the guys in the shop what they know about it.

To the OP...since it sounds like you have had the recall done, here's your easiest check. The add on box which is snapped to the fridge coils is the add on recall device. There are several wires connected to this box. In my earlier post, I referred to the yellow wire as being the 12V connection. On your coach, with the recall, this yellow wire is connected to the RED wire on the add on box. The blue wire from the box is connected to the 12V connection on your circuit board. Here's your test...

You will need a meter or a 12V tester.
You will see the yellow wire connected to the red wire from the add on box. Disconnect the yellow wire and check for 12V power. If you have power to that wire reconnect it and disconnect the BLUE wire from your circuit board. Check for power at the BLUE wire terminal. If no power there, your add on box is bad and needs to be replaced.
If you need your fridge, as an emergency "fix", you can bypass the recall box and connect the yellow wire directly to the circuit board at the 12V connection. However, this will defeat the purpose of the recall and should be used only with the understanding that you are bypassing a safety feature. That said, we operated these things for years before the recall and Norcold isn't the fastest in sending out the recall boxes to the dealers anyway. Plan on several weeks down time to get a new box.....good luck....Dennis

If the Red LED light is on solid......then that is what has tripped power to the fridge.

That box is a 'fail safe' recall device that trips energy source in the event of high temp in heater section to hopefully prevent flue fires.

Some of the recall boxes had failures without an actual high temp event.
Don't know if your box is one but with the Red LED light on....have a Authorized Norcold Tech check/repair.
