Norcold frig will not run on propane

My Norcold 1200LRIM frig will switch to propane just fine. However, when it shuts down the burner after reaching temperature, it will not relight and gives a " no flame " fault. Anybody experienced this and what did you find to be the cause?

It works fine on AC.

Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

  • i,d clean the burner before jumping in to deep, look on google for how to clean the burner .its not hard should only take about 15min. look at the flame before and after. it made a big difference on my frig.
  • Yet another RV fridge problem! Sounds like a temperature switch relay. It will engage when initially switched but then will then not cut back on... Call Norcold and tell them what it is doing - they may have a part number. If they won't help there are a few things you can do. One is hope somebody here has a better idea what is going on. Two is spend $1.2k getting a new fridge. Three is do what many folks are doing and convert to a dorm or house fridge and enjoy solid ice cream.

  • Be sure that the Norcold Recalls have been done. I think there was more than one recall ?
  • Wow.. Yet another NORCOLD thread with people giving totally unrelated answers.

OP- look at the burner when it starts and see if it does at all or even sparks. If it does, look at the flame and see if it's yellow at all. Better yet just take it out and clean it with a slag welding brush ($2@ Harbor Freight), blow it out. Also take a close look at the flame sense/ spark wire. That also needs to be clean. If it looks like the one below, replace it.

    BAD PROBE

    BAD FLAME

    NEW BURNER & PROBE

    GOOD FLAME

    Good Post.......great info.

Not sure what some of the other posts were for :H
  • Found the problem. A large piece of rust had fallen down and shorted out the igniter. Once I cleaned that out, it worked fine. The flame looks perfect. Thanks for all of the replies.

Thank you for posting the SIMPLE EASY FIX, that had NOTHING to do with the Norcold. There are some people that have NO IDEA what they are talking about and IF they see NO***** in a posting, just have to post their ignorance. Doug
