- happy-2ExplorerWell thanks for all the help.Ive let the frig run of 3 days and checked it this morning and frig is 32 and freezer is - on thermometer. Im happy, happy, happy. It just took some time.having the recall done next week.
- islandvagabondsExplorerIf the freezer still cools and the fridge part does not your cooling unit is failing. the fridge part is the first to fail.
I had a similar problem with my 1200. Ended up having the new amish cooling unit installed via www.coolingunit.com. David Force there is a great resource. Total cost was about $1600. It took only three hours. Make sure you also have the circulating fans installed inside the fridge for about $20. the fridge now performs equal to or better than our $2000 house fridge. My wife is very happy with the fridge now. We all know how important that is. - robertbenitaExplorerI did a lot of troubleshooting and found that when I removed the (2) heating elements, one was not functioning and the end of it with the wires looked dramatically different than the other. I had to flip a breaker occasionally prior to finding out this issue. I replaced both and kept one good as spare. Tight area to work in, but solved my problem completely! Good luck!
- Coyote74ExplorerI had a freezer getting down to 0 degrees and had 3 RV centers tell me its not the cooling unit on my 1200. got all the things to test for from this web site.A member here helped me with the testing (DougRainer)after completing all the tests, I then took it to RV Refridgeration place , in Monroe, NC they replaced the cooling unit for 1700.00 and once again I had cold refer.

A BAD/Blocked CU will freeze in the freezer. Doug- bluegypsyExplorerOurs stopped getting cool enough last winter, was "kinda" cooling, but not enough. Fixed it this way:
1. Switched from AC to LP, waited 24 hours, saw it was cooling better. This confirmed the cooling unit was OK, that the problem was AC only related, so probably the heating elements that are used in AC operation, instead of the flame used in LP operation.
2. There are 2 heater elements on our 1200 series fridge. We were going to order replacements, but tried this first: Got through to the logic board they plug into, unplugged and re-connected the heater elements. Magic! Fridge has been cold in both LP and AC ever since.
Make sure the fridge is off and unplug the AC connection to avoid shocking yourself or damaging the logic board. - fischerExplorerThe good news is when the freezer works it means the cooling unit should be ok.If you add your rig too your sig.We dont have too wonder whaat you have . goodluck
- 8 YEAR OLD UNIT.FIRST thing to verify is if the rear cooling fans are running. IF NOT, and the outside temp is over 65 degrees, then your symptoms are just what will happen when the fans are not running. Doug
- midnightsadieExplorer IIput a piece off duck tape across the door too pull it shut tighter . found ours was leaking air ,made a huge difference.
- Executive45Explorer IIIIf you're like most of us, you want a shortcut, so I'll give you that first.
I'll start first with a CAUTION! ::: Carefully inspect the cooling unit thru the access panel outside your coach. Look for yellow residue near the bottom and around the LP burner. If you see any and/or smell an ammonia odor, TURN THE FRIDGE OFF AND DO NOT USE. A leaking cooling unit may catch on FIRE!
If the cooling unit looks ok, disconnect the thermister inside the fridge. The thermister is nothing more than a thermostat. It is attached to one of the fins inside the fridge. Follow the wires from the thermister to where it plugs into the wiring usually near the light inside the fridge. Unplug this wire. The light also should go off. Bypassing the thermister will make the fridge continue to cool without a thermostat to shut it off. Check the fridge in a few hours to see if it is now cooling. If that checks out ok, then go to the next step.
Press the "MODE" AND the "TEMP SET" buttons together. You'll see the number one appear followed by the number 88. Release both buttons. You are now in diagnostic mode. Every push on the "MODE" button will move you on to the next code. Refer to your manual for meanings of the codes. If you don't have a manual, go to BryantRV.com and download the manual for your model. Be aware there are two different manuals depending on your fridge serial number. Be sure to refer to the proper manual....Dennis
