I have been pining for a Scenicruiser for years and yesterday I got one. #149 is now mine.
It will need a fair amount of work but There are so few of them left that I couldn't walk away. Now I just have to convince the wife that I am not an idiot and still useful.
Could be I just bought my new home. Oh well, could be worse, I could have had the hots for a corvette.

I set our PVR to record the show and now it is gone.
Like they made a change in the line up of which shows would be seen.

I was looking so forward to watching this and seeing more of the inside of the coach.

PS I'm recovering from knee surgery, tha tI had on Friday, and I was looking forward to having something to watch to help keep me off my feet - like the doctor had aksed me to do. GGG

I finally found the name of the show.

The Shipping Wars TV show name is: Cruisin' for a Bruisin'.

Our PVR says it will be on A&E April 21st at 5pm.. Just a couple of days after my knee surgery. So I have it set to record. BIG :B
At least I'll have one thing to help keep me off my feet. LOL

Mighty Thor, I watched the show where they shipped your bus. It's a blast to get to here your story about getting it shipped. Now as no one else has asked how was Marc (the Truck Driver) in real life? I am sure they are all very different in "real" life as the show is for entertainment and if they did not ham it up it would be pretty boring.

Marc was great, He shared a little about his family and how he came to be a truck driver and how he ended up on TV. I think my deal was pretty mild compared with some of the stuff he has had to figure out. I did see that when he shipped Evel Kenivel's truck he reused the rails he made to ship my bus.

Count me amongst all of the other members that will be waiting on your next installment of pictures. As for your wife, I know for a fact that if I ever purchased something like this she would at the least Divorce me. That is if she did not hire someone to dig a hole in the backyard big enough for the bus and Me!

Keep up the great work.

Have any of you watched the Bus videos on Jay Leno's site?
It belongs to his mechanic, who like-loves to race, and he put a very large diesel and trans combo in it to haul himself and a trailer with his race car and tools.
Then they went to some company who makes wiring harnesses and had one made to work with all the new items in this older bus.

Nice bus! Where did you find it???

This is what happens when you bid on Ebay on stuff you don't really expect to be able to buy. You bid something silly like $700 and then you up your bid a few times early, knowing that the final price two weeks later will be several thousand dollars, and then when there are 10 seconds left and you are the high bidder you have to explain to your wife why you bid on a bus when you are not a bus driver. 10 seconds later you have to answer the following question "SO, how are you planning on getting it here?"

Nice. 🙂

It's a great project though. After your first post, I spent the rest of the evening reading about these buses an watching Youtube videos of bus trips, restoration projects and fan reunions.

I removed the engine cradle from the bus and had it sandblasted by a friend. I knew that there was going to be a lot of repair, but I was surprised by the amount of rust damage on the underside.

The old joints between aluminium and steel were riveted. The rivets were almost dissolved away so was the steel and the Aluminium rail was gone at the end.

The worst damage is at the very back where the motor mount is located. The metal here is now paper thin. I will have to rebuild this whole area.

I will be rebuilding this area to fit my current engine but also hope to allow for future engine upgrades. Maybe an 8V92 Detroit someday.

Hi Steven,

I don’t recall the name. However, there is a term for what happens when two different metals, like aluminum and steel, are in contact with each other for a long period of time.

Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing it with us.
I look forward to seeing and hearing more.
Sincerely, Tony

Might it be easier to find another engine cradle from a junked southwestern bus? Or even a few, and sort of make one good one out of the best parts of all of them?
