- David0725Explorer IIOk I will change the fuel Filter its about the time. I trying to find some code but didn't see anything. It would only show d 1. d.2 and so on. Fallowed by - - that is. So I will start with the fuel filter. thanks for all you help. trying to keep this old girl running. 1994 HR 8.3 DP.
thanks
David - Bikeboy57ExplorerChange your fuel filters before you start looking elsewhere.
From your post, the tranny wasn't throwing codes at all. Your starting and stopping gives a little more time for fuel to pass through the occluded filter.
The scenario you described of no power / initial boost when you hit the accelerator then losing boost is classic plugged filter to me. - Mr_Mark1Explorer

plese
David, I'm just going to throw this out as I read it on another site. A guy was talking about his low boost and it was the CAC (Charge Air Cooler) radiator that is front of the regular radiator. Assuming all diesels have this.
They develop leaks that you can check with a bottle of soapy water. They say concentrate on the lower corners to see if yours is blowing bubbles.
Good luck and CAC's are not cheap.
MM. - DSDP_DonExplorerI would check your fuel filters. Sounds like they're plugged and was starving the engine, causing codes to throw.
- David0725Explorer IIThanks everyone Got it home yay! Before I took off again I pressed both arrows herd some beeps and took out it seem to be normal for about 10miles. Then it went back to it again. it seems like when I gave it gas the boost want down not up. then sometimes it would boost up. Driving in traffic everything worked as it should. Now That I am home I will check the codes. thanks so much for all your help. it good to know people are here looking out for eachother.
- Executive45Explorer IIIDavid, as Johnny T suggested, push both arrow keys at the same time. Doing so, will place the transmission in a search mode. You'll see the keypad flash then it will display d 1 followed by a code. Write down that code and press the "mode" key. You may see D 2 followed by another code. Write that one down too. Continue to press the "mode" key and write down any other codes that appear. Make sure the key is in the ON position. Return and post the codes you've discovered and maybe we can help you.
It sucks to be on the side of the road, so we feel your pain...Dennis - David0725Explorer IIim sorry the 6 6 was just the gear
I was in. it flashes all the time every gear - David0725Explorer IIBikeboy it seem \s to be running good. but the boost goes in and out. Going up a hill in Florida .lol it wont boost at all then it will pick back up. the shift pad just keeps flashing. Know matter what gear im in. Yes it does fill like fuel problem.. the boost gage will boost up then drop back down
- JohnnyTExplorer IIDavid, is your transmission the 3060?..Have you pushed both arrow keys at the same time to see if you have any additional codes. If the 66 is a serial communication fault.. The likely you are talking about communication between engine and transmission relative to throttle position..Chances are good its a connector issue... There are a lot of references to this issue on the net if you have reliable access.
Here is a link that has some specifics.. http://www.schoolbusfleet.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=13070 - Bikeboy57ExplorerDavid,
Allison fault code 6 6 is serial communication fault. Check all the connections to transmission computer.
Seems like you are posting from your phone based on typos, but the more info you provide the better we can help you.
Is the engine running fine? Are you producing boost? Have you changed the engine fuel filter?
