Onan 8K Fuel and Air Filter

Welp, genny hit 500 hours, so time for new air and fuel filters.

Air filter was simple as could be.

Fuel was a bit more tricky, only because I had fuel running all down my arm and into my shirt. My mistake was that I left the retaining nut in and changed the lines with the filter hanging in there. Next time, I'll pull the retaining nut off and bring the filter into my fuel catcher, THEN change the lines. That ought keep that wonderful diesel off me! :-)

Curious, what would a shop have charged me for all this?

Speedco would have charged you less than $50 for air filter, fuel filter, oil filter and an oil change.
  • Lurker1......If you ever do it again, tie rags around both wrists and you won't get the fuel down your arms.
  • Figure $125/Hr with a one hour minimum plus filters and oil of course. Probably a charge of $10 - $15 for shop misc supplies and maybe a disposal fee on the oil.
