Great to hear you were able to resolve the problem with a little bit of detective work.
As with anything which uses a computer circuit of any type, before you do anything...find the power connection and disconnect it for 10 seconds or so. Then reconnect it to see if it works. Or, in simple language "Shut it off and turn it back on again!". :)
Thank for telling your story. Hopefully it help others to escape an expensive repair as well.
