Place to stop in Ridgecrest, CA

I just told you what there is to see along with a possible place to stay. See up... But it is boondocking..

Not sure id want to be dropping into the hole this time of year either for any reason.

Yes I am traveling at this point and what is there to see in Ridgecrest, Ca? No body but my Exs family that I know lives there, and who wants to see them. It being a hot place in the summer I would have to run my gen all night. At a gallon of gas per hour and $4.00 a gallon it could be cheaper the stop at a place that charges under $40.00 per night. Plus you do not have to listen to the gen all night. Plus you can shower and use the restroom there. They may have a pool to cool off in, dinner near by too. So stopping in a Walmart may not be the cheapest way. Stopping at a Wally World is not Free, it still cost. As I looked on the internet and map programs I have I could not find a PAY place to stay nearby or on my route. I did find the the Elks have a RV place that is low cost for there members. You can also find some Masonic Lodges that have RV parking too. I asked the question and received several good suggestions. I use Walmart as a reference like McDonalds means food (ya right).

Because you mentioned Wally World. Last time I checked when they do allow overnighters it is FREE.

Check with the Maturango Museum. We overnighted there (with their permission) on the way into Death Valley several years ago, hitting the museum when it opened, then into the hole. The museum is all the history of DV.

Two things stand out: Your mentioning Walmart (the first hint), and, "is there anyplace to stop for the night?". That doesn't sound like you're looking for a campground, which we also assume you can find yourself. And you did, the Elks club. You were also given the suggestion of the fairgrounds, which is probably not free.

I boondock off of trona road/serales(sp?) station rd all the time, there is lots of free camping BLM land and a big OHV area....look up wagon wheel and spangler hills.

x2. If you're looking to boondock in that area there are miles and miles and miles of desert and plenty of places to pull over and spend the night. Just don't pull out into the Navy bombing range. It could get noisy there if the military is out playing.
