Power Gear Leveling System

Got a problem guys. I know you guys know everything. My down gear alarm would not go off, so I checked the fluid and it was a little low. Put fluid in, now jacks won't go down. Took it to rv repair and they said the pump motor was not working. So I took the pump to an electric repair shop. He cleaned the motor and said it was ok. Took it back to dealer, they put it on and said it didn't work. Long story short I bought a new motor. Took it to dealer. They put it on and didn't work. They say they have power and the selenoide is good but still can't get it to work. Any suggestions?

You can always email the guys at power gear with all of the info you have at this point. They will respond within a day or so with something to test. It doesn't matter if you are under warranty or not, they are very helpful and prompt.

1. Does the motor run at all?
2. Simple to tell if the motor is bad---You test for 12 volts positive at the cable to the stud on the motor and have someone activate the system IF NO 12 VOLTS, then look elsewhere. IF 12 volts and the motor does NOT run, then the motor is bad. Powergear the ground is the casing on some motors and on others there is a separate ground stud on the motor. Regardless, before condemning the motor, you apply 12 volts and ground to the motor and see if it runs--SIMPLE- If it does, the motor is good, if it does NOT the motor is bad.
3. Me thinks your RV shop lacks good diagnostic knowledgable techs.
4. Having the PG motor rebuilt is common if you have a local shop that does these. They rust out from water intrusion
5. IF the motor runs but no pumping, then I suspect they lost the keyway(shaft between the motor and pump impellor) when they pulled the motor. Doug

can you hear the pump motor running when you push an up button?

I had a bad pump in a '99 pace arrow. System ran and behaved perfectly, but just wouldn't lift the coach. Jacks would go to the ground and try, but no power. The motor didn't even sound like it was loaded, just spinning.

Autopsy showed that the pump rotor had ground a huge groove in the lower plate. Everything was working, but there was so much clearance the oil just bypassed rather than building any pressure.

After sometime trying to source individual parts or an entire pump (just the pump not the reservoir or electric motor) from powergear, I found a complete pump/motor/reservoir assembly on ebay at a price I was willing to pay.
