Propane Powered Generator ...

Have a friend who has a 96 Monaco and cannot get the generator to fire up. Turns over but no workie. Has cleaned the spark plug but does not know what to try next. I don't know model number as I type but thought rule of thumb problems might prevail. Any thoughts?? Thanking in advance.
  • I had a problem with a lazy solenoid that wouldn't release the gas when 12V was applied. It was an intermittant problem that took me forever to find out. I replaced the solenoid and that fixed it. It is not a common problem though.
  • I would also make sure the propane tank is full. A low tank does not have the pressure to keep the propane flowing hard enough to run. I had that issue with mine and when I switched tanks to a full tank, it would run no problem. The other tank was about a 1/4. Just a thought.
  • Make sure he knows that there is usually a separate valve on the tank specifically for the genset.
  • make & model of generator would help..... did he check the oil level?? low oil will prevent starting....is propane turned on??? Does it have a primer button? Did he try it??? Helps to bleed out the air to get propane flowing.........
