Purchasing a new motorhome

I am about to purchase a new motorhome and the dealership is suggesting that I get Supergard paint protection from them. They want $1200 for the outside, and &570 for the interior. Both inside and outside comes with a 7 year warranty. This is a Canadian purchase.

My question is this, is the product worth the price, and does the product do what it is supposed to do, ie, just wash the exterior to maintain, it protects against oxidation caused by uv rays, acid rain, air pollution , exhaust gases etc.?

Anyone had any feedback on this or similar product, I would like to hear your comments

Thanks
  • Thanks everyone, I appreciate your comments, and I tend to agree with then. I thought it was some kind of extra revenue maker for the dealers. However if there are any positive comments I would like to hear them as well.
  • I agree with Dennis. keep the dollars, wash the coach and wax a couple times a year!
  • $1770 will buy a whole bunch of washes....save your hard earned dough....take your wife out to dinner and enjoy the coach....Dennis
  • Look up Permanon on Google. The former owner used it on our RV and I just re-applied it (once a year) and I am a believer! I bought it from Amazon.
  • Additional profit for dealer. Same as when you buy a car and they want to do the Scotch Guard thing on the interior or etch the VIN into the windshield.
  • The Tiffin dealer I delt with tried to sell me the same process only it was called resist all. $1500 worth. I posted on a few forums and pretty much the opinion shared by everone was its a scam. the only thing your getting is a warranty on your paint. save your money
  • I have full body paint and the clear coat keeps it looking good after 11 years. Go to Canadian Tire and couple cans of Scotch Guard to spray the interior upholstery. I haven't waxed a car or MH in years but I do store them inside.
  • The new polyurethane paints already have UV and other protections as part of their composition. Anything added after the coach leaves the factory is just something the dealer is using to increase his profit.
  • My comment is this: they are always trying to sell you something more, weather is works or not, I don't know. Myself, I wouldn't get it, all you have to do is wash your M/H once in a while and I wax mine once a year.
