Have sold my old Rv Holiday Rambler and tow vehicle. I am now looking for another RV, recently purchased a 2018 Subaru Forester, has any body ever pull one, I am been told that up to 2016 it was in the tow vehicle list on the motor magazine an is no longer there.
I would appreciate some info.

Better be careful which one of those you pick now-a-days too! I have been looking at Jeeps as well and the Cherokees must have the QuadraTrac II transmission (late model years). Good luck finding one of those in the used market...even new ones at the dealers as it's an added cost option that 99.9% of people don't want it. And if you look at the NTSA website and other places on the web, ton's of bad on the late model Cherokees.

I tow a 2000 Jeep Cherokee and it's easy as pie. Transfer case in Neutral, Transmission in Park. Hook up and go. Too bad they moved away from that for the Cherokees.

We had two Honda CR-V's we used for a tow vehicle (2007, 2013). I would have bought another but as Tropical36 pointed out, 2014 is the last year the Honda CR-V is towable 4 down.

I was told it is because of the new transmission Honda has started using making it not towable 4 wheels down.

Our choices are getting rather limited as the years go by. :M

Honda is NOT showing the 2018 CRV to be towable 4 wheels down.

No idea of this is a warranty/legal decision or a mechanical change.

I believe the last one made, to be tow-able was the 2014 model and for whatever reason.

Thank you'all for the help. Well! I have had 2 HONDA CRV 02 and 06, excellent tow vehicles in the last ten years they never gave me any trouble, so I figure just go back to Honda CRV

Thanks again for the efforts

Happy RVing!!!!

I guess I'm going to have to back off the above statement and agree with the others here. I have located the Forester Owner's Manuals online and reviewed 2016 - 18 versions. The only references to towing 4-flat are in the "Emergency" section and it's clear they are in no way transferrable to recreational towing, plus there are severe limitations.

I've been looking at so many different vehicles, I must have confused what I saw somewhere else with the Subaru.

As a side note, dealers are telling me the manuals are towable 4-flat, but I don't trust them. If I can't specifically find it in the owners manual, I would not buy one or try it. ๐Ÿ˜ž

True, there is no need for a vehicle capable of towing the motorhome.
However, many people want a vehicle that they can tow BEHIND the motorhome. Such a vehicle is often called a tow vehicle, or a towed vehicle, or a toad, or (sometimes) a FROG (Four Rolling On Ground).
The OP's intent is obvious.

You don't need a class A motorhome either, for that matter. It's all about want, among the affluent.

Several parts to the real answer:

Historically, MANUAL transmission Subarus are towable 4 wheels down.

Recently, Subaru changed that so their answer is "none are towable 4 wheels down".

I do not know if this was for liability/warranty reasons (i.e. the lawyers) OR because of a mechanical change.

If an automatic, they have never been towable 4 wheels down (or on a dolly for that matter).
