Quick Norcold Question

Getting ready to leave for a week and found the RM1200 didn't have AC. Seems fine on propane though.

I found the 5A fuse on the control board was blown so replace it and I think it's working but no way to be really sure short term. I do have a question on the little device used as part of the recall. Should the red light be on when in normal operation?? An just what does it do?

I ask cause the light is not on and I can't remember if it should be or not.

Thanks for any help.

as others indicate if red lite was on the LPG side would not work.Sounds to me like you have either a bad control board and or the 120V heating elements are toast.
If the cooling unit was bad the LPG system would not work either
  • Pretty easy fix if it's the heating element. Did the fuse blow again? Did you reset the board?

I'd use caution using a Norcold with a known 'issue'. Fires are high on my list of things to avoid....just sayin....Dennis
  • Well, the problem seems to still be there. I replaced the fuse and let it set overnight on auto. This morning it wasn't cold and flashing a no co error.

Manually selecting propane didn't help but shutting it off and restarting on propane it seems to be OK.

Oh well, reckon I'll just let it run on propane and worry about it later.
  • That 5A fuse is for the electric heating element.....

The recall box RED light isn't ON normally........if it comes ON ALL power to fridge shuts down so fridge wouldn't work on electric or propane
  • The red light should be OFF. If it comes on, it means the unit has overheated and triggered the safety mech. shutting the fridge off. Since you found the blown fuse and replaced it all should be well. If the fuse blows again, then you should begin tracing to find out why.....Enjoy your trip....Dennis

As I tell my DW... if it's a yellow light keep driving BUT if it's a Red light pull over as soon as safe. If the red light is on there will not be any 12V to the unit so the door display will not do anything or the unit. Sounds like you fixed your problem.
