Or the color brochure they mailed us. Most odd $120.00 I've ever spent. Do have a wonderful view of Yaquina head lighthouse though.

Beverly Beach State Park is not far, might be worth a drive to see if they have openings.

To bad that is their rule. Perhaps several people complained about 'midnight' campers showing up, and waking the people who are trying to relax, or perhaps sleep in for a few hours, and not wanting to listen to a RV starting up and bringing the slides in at 5 am! I don't think I would like to be woken up at 11 pm or 5 am!Anyway that is their rule. The 'fine print' on my motorhome vehicle loan says "I will not take the vehicle out of state". I guess I can understand this 'requirement' on a home, or perhaps when financing a shed in the back yard, but not a motorhome that 'should' be taken on vacations to other states. I know that my mom bought some aluminum pots and pans in Pennsylvania back in the 50's and part of her agreement was to not move without notifying the company, of her current address, and one requirement was to not move out of state. She moved to California, and that made her loan due in full at the time they discovered her moving out of state. Silly in my opinion!Also when you rent a car, most will have fine print that says not to take the car out of the state you are in. This would seem almost impossible when renting a car in Washington DC for instance. . . If you go more than 10 miles in the same direction, you will end up in another state. Fine print is there for a reason in most cases, but in some cases you wonder if they are making un-reasonable requests of the person signing the contract. Such as a extended warranty on motorhomes that says you 'shall change the engine oil every 3000 miles or this warranty will become invalid. So don't change the engine oil every 15,000 miles like the manufacture says, then the engine gets all junked up with oil sludge, I can understand lack of coverage, but to not cover the refrigerator or awning due to not having receipts for each oil change every 3000 miles is un-acceptable! Still it can be in the fine print!Good luck on your reading the fine print! They do that all the time at the Army Corp of Engineer campgrounds, but at least they let you know. Some will say just park outside the gate if you get back late and others will say no parking by the gate and you're out of luck. A possible reason, as I have spoken to more then a few campground owners with strange hours and confirmed by my Uncle who has been a camp host for the last 30 years. People will come in late night, hook up, sleep and leave in the early AM without paying. My uncle, a night owl, would just put a night check in envelope under the wipers so they knew they were busted and wouldn't leave without paying.

I'm assuming you made reservations at Pacific Shores. Congratulations! while you will suffer tonight, tomorrow you'll love that place. I did read the complete thread, I noticed that he didn't take any responsibility on the review that was posted on RV Park Reviews.

Most customer service folks would ensure the info about checking in would be included in the myriad lists of rules they email you after you pay. Yes, they expect payment up front, but then don't let you in. I SPENT $120.00 TO SLEEP IN THEIR DRIVEWAY. - Joe Smart

DW made the reservation from their web site (yes, the one with the disclaimer), she also called the park and talked with an employee who said it would not be a problem with us being late, as we did not know when we would be leaving. The morning after we stayed in their parking lot, the employee DW talked to on the phone apologized for giving DW incorrect information,(turns out she was new to the job) however, they would not refund our nights payment. Thus the review.

Curious, you have never said the time that you came in, so what time did you come in?

If the restriction is THAT important (and it is) then is should not be in such small print and then not re-iterated when making a reservation. It should also be listed in the printed paperwork they received which it appears was not done either.
I would never stay in a park that charged that kind of money (and I didn't when given the choice) but if that's your thing at least the park should not make an effort to rip you off by hiding such important details.

Obviously these people can't read, right on the front page is this disclaimer for this RV Resort.

These rules are so people in the resort are disturbed while rvs are coming in and unhooking, backing up setting up.

I guess reading and comprehension tests should be done also.

Hopefully you have a great time!

9pm seems a bit early to me... but I have learned to always ask about check in, check out, and "gate locked" times when we reserve and/or arrive at campgrounds. Many campgrounds we've been to have a 10pm gate locked and guests have to be gone time. Unfortunately, most of those rules come about due to bad experiences in the past.

Surely they didn't charge you $120 to park in the driveway! There should have not been ANY charge for that night.

Yes, they do. No different than a hotel or other reservation system (other than locked gate). Most parks/resort keep the sight reserved and you pay whether you show or not. They cannot afford to let t he sight go empty and unpaid for. They need to stay liquid.
