Rear Camera

Just accessed my camera from the rear closet and cleaning it all up in there, glass, lense, etc. and noticed for the first time a little pushbutton switch marked Std. and MIR. Using the latter position reverses the viewing from right to left and vice versa. Why would this be and what would could this obvious confusion be used for? I mean when I'm backing up, I expect to see what's actually on my left and viewing same from the left side of the screen. Wouldn't you?
I guess I need enlightened here and maybe someone else might have this reversed and have been wondering why.

I juryrigged a baby monitor to look out the back of the toad and it was very confusing as cars kept passing me on the right although I was in the right lane. ๐Ÿ™‚
somebody posted which two wires to switch to correct that.

The switch is there in case your monitor does not have one. We all like to see the correct video and not a backwards one.

I have the same button only it's on my monitor. I like to adjust it so the screen presents the same view that I have in my rear view mirror. The other way presents the view as if you actually turned around in your seat and looked out the back yourself. I'm not sure why anyone would prefer it that way.
